I read, heard, or came upon a compelling point made by someone that really resonated with me, but in the ensuing days, I've rarely heard it invoked, and I think its important enough that it needs to be remembered and spread to the masses.
As the evidence grows and become more widely spread about the corruption and malicious behavior of the League office, one of the few remaining arguments the haters and liars have remaining open to them is to invoke Brady's lack of a powerful denial of guilt immediately after Mort's report came out and Deflate gate started to get some traction. One Brady quote is used often is when he was asked if he thought he was a cheater. To which Brady replied, "I don't think so." Not exactly the words you'd like to hear from someone who doesn't want people to believe he's guilty, is it?
So on the surface this seems like a fair point. But just dig SLIGHTLY below the surface, and it all becomes perfectly clear. When Brady was asked this question the immediate report was that 10 of the 11 Patriot balls were fully 2 PSI below NFL required specs. At this point no one had reason to believe that this wasn't true, neither did Brady. It was clearly something very damning and difficult for the Pats to explain.
And then Brady did something very unique, admirable, and honest, and when asked the question, gave an answer that reflected the very questions he must have been asking himself....at that time. "How the f^^k DID those balls get so deflated."
Now months after the fact when we KNOW that the figures the NFL allowed to be spread as the truth so long were both greatly exaggerate and false. Now that we know that NFL REFUSED to allow the Pats defend themselves and disseminate the truth; Brady is still being slammed by mediots and so called pundits too lazy or co- opted by an agenda, to not only understand why Brady said what he said, but to appreciate the rare honesty and candor it took for him to make it.
That truth was once again distorted, manipulated, or simply ignored just to create a "talking point". for some radio show or blog. It needs to be made perfectly clear that Brady's initial tepid responses were the result of the false information the NFL allowed to be propagated, followed by a LEAGUE ordered gag order that effectively kept Brady from defending himself and FURTHER added to the "perception" of his guilt.
BTW- as a personal aside, I find myself getting angrier and angrier as I write this as the shear evil and vindictiveness of this strategy becomes more and more apparent . I have to stop now , because I feel the incredible need to take a shower.
BOTTOM LINE - Just remember this the next time you hear someone like a Tanguay, Volin, or some other hater or manipulato, try and blame Brady's failure to defend himself well as the reason he's got into this mess and incredibly justify why he's being punished. It's ALMOST as ridiculous as the "cell phone" argument.
