BOLD Predictions for Pats in 2007

And rumor has it, Polian and Irsay have made a handsome offer to Freeney, so what is the problem? Does Irsay overpay or underpay, which is it?

What does this have to do with anything? I said that if Freeney plays under the exclusive franchise tag his cap hit will be over 10 million dollars. I didn't say anything about his contract offer or whether the Colts were overpaying him or not.

read all the previous posts then. The topic moved toward that with English boy.

Well I can't be held accountable for what other people say.

They offered lucrative contracts to both. There is a difference between not willing to pay someone and not willing to over pay for someone. Get your facts straight.
I wouldn't bother getting into it w/ this one. Go to IndyStar and read his posts under "Ban Me". He trash talks over there and craps all over Pats fans posts, then comes here to do the same.

Type English so as I kun respund

aaah the typical internet attack when you have nothing to say. Attack the fact that the person might not be the best speller or typist.

and if you reall must know

The Patriot top 3 or 4 players make less the top 3 or 4 players on the Colts so that mean that the Patriots have more quality 1-53 then the Colts do

The defense was absolutley horrible in the regular season. Another Patriot playing both sides of the fence. Had we kept those guys, you'd say you're licking your chops, because the defense will show their "true colors"again.
Gunning for us? 13-0 and 9-0 last two seasons. Teams are always gunning for us!

The offense should be fine. D is where all the issues are. Will next years D resemble the reg. season or the playoffs. Keeping Sanders healthy is the key. You depth on D is shot. Special teams coverage is very poor and may get worse. Teams gunning for you when your the SB champion is a lot different, it means 16 weeks straight.

These are ALL OPINIONS:
Offense will be more than fine. O-line is deep. Gonzo will start. Need a second back (DeDe is supposed to be that guy at this point)
D-line is intact. That was where most the trouble started. Outside rush made the draw play successful for many teams. Add to that the fact the June couldn't tackle a dummy, and that made for big plays. Morris and Sanders were keys to the improvement.
Depth is an issue, but Hughes might be our best "steal". Another AllAmerican in Pit**** was chosen. No guarantees, but we'll see.
Special teams IS poor. I assume that Dungy and Co. are aware of this.

SB champs or not. Everyone wants to beat the Colts.

Doesn't seem all that extreme to me. Peyton has thrown 50+. Now Brady finally has the receivers to throw to. So why wouldn't he get 40+?

Because the Pats don't run up the score and their stats. They'd rather eat the clock and walk away rather than throw meaningless TDs,

All you gotta do is read who the response is for. I'm sure the person (troll) who represents 3eeefn on our board is posting here as well. Any caustic response on the Indy board would be a direct result of any idiot Patiot troll. Go find LarryBirdPats and see what type on convo we have had. A lot of good Pats posters there, but some trolls as well. Nature of the beast I guess. So, what's YOUR name on that site?

Time to put this thread right again the is about what some of you are predict very very very early for the Partriots not argue with a colts fan so lets get this back on track so mine again

14-2
Brady MVP
1st offense
2nd deffense
beat Denver Indy New orleans
Super Bowl win 4

I'd be very suprised if Brady won the MVP. I think he is the best QB in the league but he just doesn't put up those crazy numbers required to win MVP. But this could be an offense like we have never seen before so it is hard to know what is going to happen. I would be happy if he did though.

I would tell you, but I just go there to read posts, as there are some legit Colts fans who are rational. It's hard not read a thread and find you trash-talking about non-football stuff. You do the same here, although you can be rational at times. Back to football....It'll be hard to predict which receivers will get the ball, Brady will reach 4,000 yards and the 30's in TDs. If healthy, Maroney gets 1200-1400 yards w/ 10 TDs. The defens will be tough, but the ???s about the rookies, Asante, how AD will be used and the health of veterans makes me hold out til TC before making predictions. The SB goes thru SD and Denver for us and the NO!

Generally, I don't "trash talk" non football stuff. Again, any caustic remarks are 95% of the time a result or a response to an attack on me. Here? Yeah, I'm a little brash. I'll try to restrain myself.

If I were a Patriot fan, I would be very excited about the coming year. I think your numbers for Brady and Maroney will be close +/- a few yards/td's. Either way, I think they will have good years.

I know folks think Colts will have a let down, but I don't see it. If anything, a less than stellar record will be a result of a very difficult schedule. IIRC, NE's schedule, based on LAST YEARS W-L, is more "difficult". However, look at where you think the strength lies. We play ALL THREE of those teams this season. I think NE just plays (out of that group) SD.

N.O.
DENVER
NE
@BALT
@SD
Are 5 games that EASILY could result in losses. JAX is to Indy as Miami is to NE. Playing them on the road is always tough. I really think that with the strength of the AFC this year, '07 is shaping up to be the most exciting year ever.

Injuries, breaks, and overall good fortune may just determine who rises to the top. Good luck in '07.

I have no doubt that this team is being built to make a run at the first perfect season in the modern 16 game regular season era.

I have also have no misconceptions about just how difficult that is to do - and how much luck and injury avoidance that requires - but this team is being built to dominate on both offense and defense like no other I can remember.

Certainly many teams have made big splashes in free agency before - but when you take a Belichick coached team - and consider how he took a VERY flawed team to arguably one play from winning the Super Bowl (if the offense converts one additional first down at the end of the game we run out the clock and very likely whum Chicago)... and add the pieces that we did, it is difficult to argue that this team has the best shot of any in recent memory to go 16-0 in the regular season and of course win the Super Bowl.

I'm not arrogant enough to make that a prediction - but I am realistic enough to know that the Patriots goal is to win EVERY game EVERY week and that this team like no other seen before stands a very good chance of being able to fulfil that goal.

Obviously, health is everything and 1 or 2 key injuries can be the difference. I.E. Rodney Harrison last year for us, Bob Sanders for you. The difference being that Sanders was able to play for you guys when you needed him the most. I dare say if Harrison had been playing in the AFCG it could have been the difference of 3-7 points and the outcome.

As a Pats fan, I am excited about this year. Of course there is no basis for my argument, but I optimistically hope that the Colts have a huge letdown this year for good reasons. I look back at the '02 season for the Pats and boldly predict the same for the Colts this year. I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong, but hope I'm right. Of course I realize that Baltimore, SD, CIncy, and Indy are possible losses, but once again I believe the Pats have positioned themselves to be a very potent offense and should be considered the favorites due to that. The games that always leave me scratching my head are against divisional foes. It goes all the way back to when the Pats were perenially 3-13; 2-14 and one of our few wins always came against the juggernaut Bills in the midst of their 4 AFC titles. Anyhow, I begrudingly say, "Good luck to your Colts", as I do have a lot of respect for what your team did last year!

This isn't college. There are very few teams in the pros that "run up" the score. The Pats won't need to run up the score to average over 25 ppg imo. Their offense will be that good. And just because the Pats don't like to run up the score does not mean they'll punt the ball away on the opponent's 10 yard line with 10 minutes to go just because they're already up by 20. The Pats play to win first of all. I don't expect them to pull Brady in the 4th even if they are up by a lot, unless it's the last 1 or 2 games of the season and homefield advantage is locked up for the playoffs.

Predictions:

1. Moss will look TIGHT in a Pats uniform and catch deep bombs all day.
2. Stallworth will look TIGHT in a Pats uniform and catch deep bombs all day.
3. A.D. will look TIGHT in a Pats uniform. He will line up at ILB, OLB, DE, CB and S.
4. Maroney will continue his quest for TIGHTNESS now that he is the starting running back and has a year under his belt. If healthy, he should rush for at least 1,400 yards. No more safeties in the box spying on Maroney.
5. Brandon Merriweather will look TIGHT in a Pats uniform and will wear the same visor
he whore at Miami. Will be a starter day 1.
6. This will be the year that Tom Brady breaks the 30+ TD mark and may push for 40.
7. The Pats offense will be at least top 5 and may push for the best offense in the NFL.
8. Chad Jackson's quest for TIGHTNESS will have to take a back seat due to him rehabbing his injury. With the new additions, why rush him back?
9. Ben Watson will be WIDE OPEN on passing plays because everyone is going to be accounting for Moss and Stallworth. In result, Watson has a huge year and makes the pro bowl.
10. Pats steamroll into the superbowl like the Eagles did with T.O. yet the Pats will walk all over the NFC.

This is just a taste. More predictions to come!

Merriweather was a 'Whore' at Miami ? - How did you hear that?- I hope what we pay him will include those services here :D

Yeah, I agree, Harrison might just have been the straw that broke the back. I guess when you add up guys like Reagor, Stokely, Doss, and Harper all being out for that game (Harper after 1 quarter), who knows? Maybe it was a blessing. Guys like Jackson and Clark maybe made plays that would not have been there had these others been healthy.

I guess I don't buy in to an automatic "down" year following a SB. Plenty of teams have shown up the following year (and some flops of course). I believe Manning, Dungy and the rest will be just as hungry and have the desire to do goos things. I guess the nice thing about some of those opponents is it will keep them on their toes from start to finish. Hopefully we open well versus N.O.'s and then get two division road wins before another big date with the Donks. If they can get out of the gate early, I think they will be okay. Interesting that we each play Balt late in season, but YOU get them coming off a road date at SD, and we get them the following week. If I am Raven fan, I am more than a little ticked. That will be a brutal stretch for the Birds.

Time to watch the Derby;)

OK. The thread asks for BOLD, and, in the context of the predictions in this thread, it's bold to say that I had the Patriots 11-5 before Free Agency and the Draft, and I still have them 11--5.

Until Brady clicks with Stallworth, Moss et al, until we get some speed and youth at LB, until Maroney shows that he's really the early 2006 Maroney and not the late 2006 Maroney, until the Asante situation is resolved, there are just too many unknowns.

BB often says that he doesn't know what he has until the fifth or sixth game. This season, I think this will be true in spades.

Like everyone else out here, I'll put my own prediction on the line just before the season begins (I called 13-3 last year...didn't figure on the Jets beating us), and it might change. For now, it's 11--5 (and, BTW, I am sure that will be enough to win the division and think it might get an AFC bye this year).
