Me thinks thou protest too much
Funny, this entire thread is filled with Patriots fans doing just that.

Also, it's incredibly ironic that Pats fans are all: "The NFL penalized us with no proof for Spygate!!!11" while today you're all: "They can't penalize us for Deflategate without absolute proof despite the mountains of evidence and everyone with at least a double-digit IQ knowing Brady was complicit in this!!!11"

I mean, not that there's a double standard happening here, or anything. Deus Irae, perhaps you'd like to chime in here; so were you legitimately penalized for Spygate, or do you need to be penalized for Deflategate? Can't claim both are illegitimate, since you flat-out told me I was wrong and they do need proof earlier in this thread. Just trying to keep the flow of misinformation - err, backtracking - err, supposition - err, facts straight, here.

What huge-leap assumptions can you make from this wrong-number text I got a couple weeks ago, Mr. Wells?

I think the report confirms the balls were intentionally deflated, and as result the organization is going to be fined at the least, and lose a pick next year at the most.

It's the damning conclusions that Brady had more knowledge than he claimed to the investigators. And as much a Patriots fan I have always been and always will be, if he played coy and dumb - but knew the scoop -that pisses me off. I may have read the details of the report wrong, but it seems evident he lied to the investigators.

That ain't cool at all. I can stomach Spygate, ball handlers behaving without direction, and even somebody throwing a $1000 bill to somebody making a crunch interception or forcing a fumble - but I can't tolerate Brady knowing more than he said he did. If thats the case (and I sincerely hope it isn't) then ring up the Cardinals and ask them what they might offer for him.

Classic example of a no-win situation.

If the suggestion is that Ted Wells would have leaked other private phone numbers of famous actors or athletes, I think that's really stretching things.

Stronger than that. I read it as Brady would give the phone to Brady's attorney. Brady's attorney would look at the contents and in consultation with Brady would decide what would be turned over, and then those things would be turned over. The report explicitly said the offer would mean the investigators would never possess or even touch Brady's phone.

I don't get it......any texts on brady's phone would also be on the phones of the equipment guys.......all I see is an attempt to invade privacy

brady didn't need his lawyer........the NFLPA would have told him not to do it

Classic example of a no-win situation.

Yes. Had he agreed, the report would have read something like the following:

"We asked for Mr. Brady's phone. He was uncooperative, only giving us selected texts instead of allowing us to look at the phone in order to ensure we were getting all the relevant information".

Well if someone worked for me and wouldnt cooperate then I would let you go, or make sure you wanted to. :) most folks in business dint have time for games. Just a general statement.

Tom works for the Patriots. The league, at least at the time, was a non profit administrative organization. Tom works in a very competitive business too. He certainly wouldn't be advancing the goals of his employer by cooperating with competing teams trying to bring his more successful operation down.

He's helped the Patriots crush the Colts and Jets during the season. that's his job.

Let's say, the weaker "companies" are politically connected and try to plant evidence of wrondoing because they can't compete on the "field." Does Pats employee Tom owe his allegiance to the team that pays him, or to the organizations trying to backstab his quality company?

I didn't realize that you were implying the leaks were occurring from Ted Wells, himself.

I'm not. I'm pointing to the obvious. There's a reason we have the saying

"Three can keep a secret, if two are dead".

I say this without any ill intent:

I honestly don't know what the hell you're talking about with that last sentence, post second comma. Perhaps you could re-state it for me.

The non-Bradys were (apparently) not given the choice Brady was. They either had to turn their phones over (because they were team-provided) phones or they decided/were pressured into turning over personal phones. So Wells had access to everything in the phone (like texts to Mom).

Brady had the option to provide only vetted-by-Brady's-lawyer content, and never letting the phone out of his hands. So he could control what could possibly be leaked. The other people had no such control. Hence their situations were not comparable with respect to the phones.

Oh and it looks like Borges is coming out of the closet. Let's see, it's all in the texts, and his newest Brady may not be a first ballot hall of famer. Lol at Ron. Can't believe he is a writer for Boston. Or was it Seattle?

We've been told that, right or wrong, that Wells offered Brady's attorney the opportunity to sift through the information for this very reason.
If you were the NFLPA, wouldn't you advise your player to NOT turn over e-mails and/or texts to the league?

I've not said that I either do, or do not, believe Brady. You're tossing out a straw man now.
Ok got it, ha ha, maybe a little straw. Hey all I was really trying to get to is that I didnt understand the blind believe that Brady was telling the truth..I'm not sure myself but I have no reason to or not to other than his level of cooperation is suspect in my eyes.

So it's been fun, I gotta interview a guy in India now .

So how about the scientific evidence ignored and rejected from Columbia. Furthermore, the evidence which claimed the psi lead validity to neither clearing or condemnation of the Pats. O, plus that we bit where it was a cold winter rain, significantly different than a spray bottle at room Furthermore every fifteen minutes?

O, the pats were also the benefactor of a 22 to 38 time of possession advantage. Granted, this was the full game stat, as I did not care to go through play by play to determine the first half Stat. I have already taken into account more relevant factors outside of temperature, and admitted more short comings in my analysis than CaliFrauds. Hey, electricity and water may have been on short supply, can't blame them.

Quick question, do you also super their findings that second hand smoke does not cause cancer?

Yeh but if your innocent why not?

They're still comparable. The non-Bradys could have chosen not to turn over their phones.

I'm not sure why you're trying to pick a fight with me. Go back and read the thread. You'll see that you've no cause for this.

But not texts that Brady made to other people. It would be silly for the investigators to believe that the only texts Brady could have made that were potentially deflate-related were to those two guys. They wouldn't have been doing their jobs if they didn't try to get at least some DFG-related texts out of Brady.

Likewise, it was certainly reasonable for Brady to refuse to give them anything.

Not the ones that were using team-issued phones (which at least some were).
