It is, according to Gregg Doyel...Strokes should spike today - I look at some of the other football forums and this is what I see:
One might think this is a reaction to the 1919 BlackSox Scandal.
I make no claims of objectivity, but these - along with the fact that the Colts balls didn't lose as much pressure as the report itself indicates they should - are serious gaps in the narrative. No matter how alarming the texts appear to be, if you cannot account for these discrepancies you have no business levying any punishment. If the NFL has satisfactory explanations, then I've have to begrudgingly accept that Tom did have a hand in it....
Which wouldn't alter my opinion that the whole thing is nonsense, but it is what it is.
Well according to the report, the weather could not have deflated the balls. BUT, if the Colts balls were deflated under the allowed amount, and the weather could not have done it, then the Colts must have cheated as well. How come no one on these sports networks are talking about how 3 out of the 4 Colts balls were ALSO under inflated.
Or how about that only 4 Colts balls were even measured to begin with.....
It is, according to Gregg Doyel...
TB would be a 'person of interest' if this were a criminal investigation. Can't prove anything but hes suspected of at least knowing. The whole thing is an ass saving measure by the league. They would look like idiots if they put the pats through the ringer and found nothing. This way they found nothing but can say there was enough to make us think TB knew about it. Therefor all that time, effort, denigrating of the team wasn't for nothing. Plus now Rodger the Dodger doesn't have to apologize, at least not in his mind.Maybe at this point BK should go Al Davis on the Goodell and the league, or at least threaten to for not pursuing the FO leaks and what happened between kinsil and grigson.Still need clarification of the standard of guilt here, "more probable than not".. where does that lie on the continuum of....suspicion.... to beyond a reasonable doubt????
That's a good question. It feels as if there was a terrorist attack...every channel...the hysteria. God I hate the media. Will my normal shows be on tonight or will they all be cancelled due to special reports on the deflategate findings?
The report says that according to Exponent's analysis, the IND balls were underinflated by an amount consistent with physics, while the NE balls were not. One can certainly argue with Exponent's analysis, but I wouldn't expect media types to do so (how could they)? So it's reasonable for the media to not talk about the IND balls.
Clete Blakeman also thinks this is legal pass coverage:Page 163 two officials measured the balls at halftime, Clete Blackman and Dyrol Prioleau. Notice anything screwy? You will. When measuring the Patriots footballs Clete Blackman consistently came up with PSI readings .4 less than Dyrol Prioleau but when Clete Blackman measured the Colts balls they came in much higher than Dyrol Prioleau
Where is that first quote from? The report?"According to Brady, at some point after the Jets game and before the game against the Chicago Bears the following weekend, he asked to see a copy of the applicable Playing Rule, learned for the first time that the permissible inflation range was 12.5 to 13.5 psi, and was told that the Patriots typically inflated game balls slightly above 12.5 psi. Brady also stated that, at some point, he felt a football that was inflated to 12.5 psi, and decided that should be the target for all future games because he did “not ever want to get near the upper range again.” In addition, Brady stated that he suggested that the Patriots give the game officials a copy of Rule 2 when they delivered game balls prior to each game, so that the officials would know that it was not necessary to inflate them further."
Because, ya know, these are the actions of a guy involved in a mass deflating conspiracy. "Hey, let's tell the refs I know what the rule is, give them a copy of the rulebook, tell them exactly how to inflate the balls, then **** with them anyway." Isn't it more likely that the refs didn't do their job before that Jets game and it pissed Brady off to the point where he didn't want it to happen again?
Just turned on TV. First five channels I flick through are DEFLATE GATE. Ugh.
Look I don't think anybody argues that the whole ball thing is completely trivial in the grand scheme of things. However, that has nothing to do with the report or what people are going to do with it. It's more fodder for our haters, which to some extent I don't care, but it's just admittedly annoying. And that's besides the point - Tom Brady told Belichick & Kraft he didn't do anything. Him not lying to those guys is very important to me. Something that comes out and suggests he did I find disconcerting, and very annoying, as I still tend to think he did not lie.
Exponet's report banks on the NFL being accurate in their assertion the balls were immediately brought to the locker room and then tested 4 minutes later. If this assertion is not correct, than the Patriots balls fall within their expectations.
