Vince Wilfork could make a triumphant return to the New England Patriots. Despite tweeting out what appeared to be a farewell letter to the Patriots, Wilfork is considering re-signing with the team that turned down his 2015 option, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday. The Houston Texans, who reportedly have shown interest in Wilfork, also are on the big nose tackle’s list of four teams, according to Rapoport. Rapoport and Yahoo! Sports’ Charles Robinson both note that Wilfork will take his time in the free-agency process. Wilfork played over 70 percent of the Patriots’ defensive snaps in 2014 despite coming off a torn Achilles tendon suffered early in the 2013 season./

I would welcome vince but who else is he bringing with him?

Do it. With Vince back in the fold and a healthy Mayo we could point to the front 7 and consider it improved from what was on the field for SB49.

And with the secondary being weaker we need an improved front 7.

Then you also have Easley and any free agents for further improvements.

I'd like to see Sheard in the mix as well.

bring back wilfork, and bring in fairley on an incentive deal to replace branch.

in the draft, wind up with CB Jalen Collins, DT Marcus Hardison, OG Ali Marpet (I have come around on him too and it fits with the rest of the draft)

add WR Stevie Johnson, DE Jabaal Sheard

What else?

I'm sold.

I hope not, unless it's for a minimum deal. As great as Wilfork has been, the Pats are better moving on at this time. The team needs to build a long term solution at DT, not overpay for a 33-34 year old stopgap. I'd rather have Kenrick Ellis and/or Ahtyba Rubin, or Randy Starks.

Homer! What happened to you? I used to count on your negativity but now you're posting these optimistic solutions that make sense. OK, who kidnapped the real IC?

Starks is a better interior rusher but he presents the same issue as Wilfork at 31 years old as of today.

I agree. He wouldn't be my first choice.

Fairley + Ellis would be an interesting combination. Ellis wouldn't break the bank, and would add another run stuffer in addition to Siliga. Fairly has obvious risk, but also disruptive ability and signficant talent. Add Marcus Hardison in the draft and Fairley/Easley/Hardison would present an athletic and disruptive group that the Pats haven't had.

The bottom line is that the Pats are hardly screwed in any way, and to me, I am always excited in watching new faces contribute to the long train of success......

for good measure, may throw TE Zach Miller and RB Justin Forsett....we have the $$ for all of it, and none of it would appear to put us in any kind of longer term bind.....

Isn't Ellis still under contract with the Jets until next season?

I don't believe so. He was drafted in 2011 in the 3rd round, so he would have gotten a 4 year contract under the new CBA. Rotoworld lists him as a FA.

Hey, I see what I see.......sometimes I'm right, but sometimes I am wrong.......

tell you what though........without much interior DL on the roster, there really was no point to signing Revis.he's not going to help stop the opponents from gaining 200 yards per game. We were 2nd to last against the pass and we still got to the super bowl using mccourty, chung, ihedigbo, arrington, sergio brown, and sterling moore....whatever our FA losses, next year's secondary will be better than that one

sloppy zone will work if we are stout against the run and the offense grows on what got done in the 2nd half of last year...........

Unless the Pats make a block buster deal for a #1 CB they need pass rush.

Wilfork is not the answer to that. Starting DT is one of the spots the Pats could get a player to have a big time impact instead of a marginal upgrade.

Get a disruptive presence on the inside to pair with Easley and tee off. I want an impact vet signed here.

After that patch work your secondary as best you can and solidify your OL and #3 WR spot.

The Pat have the ability to free up so much money it is kind of silly. I want some moves done here for impact starters.
