Curran article on Jets tampering

Again, you are talking about different issues. Yes,we should be upset that Kensil was leaking information and the league couldn't bottle it up. But what does that have to do with the Jets?

Being upset with how the league has handled Deflategate is one thing. The Jets' tampering charge is another. Why are we trying to connect the two? Different situation.

Rob, you have argued over and over and over that the league is just waiting for the right moment to dump all the news at once to cover for their incompetence, and now you want to say we are the ones conflating the issues. You need to get your points straight because to you are the one who tied them all together

Until we see the league issue punishment to the Jets or say no punishment for them, we have no evidence that they are playing favorites towards them.

Tripgate, where the league allowed the Rats to accuse the Pats of doing the same thing, with impunity, and allowed the Rats to investigate and punish themselves, says "Hi!"

Why is it wrong for them to dump all the punishments at once if the punishments end up being fair? Until we see what the punishments are or aren't, we cannot cry favoritism.

They dragged the Patriots through the mud at the most publicized point of the season and you are saying the league is waiting until no one is paying attention to publish their findings and you don't understand what is wrong with that?

The league has always dumped punishments on Fridays at 5PM. In fact, every league does stuff like this. It is a common practice. It isn't like this is a special circumstance. It is a general practice in business to dump any bad news (in this case punishments for teams) on a Friday at 5PM preferably at a time when the media is asleep at the wheel like a long holiday weekend.

So if they find that the Patriots did absolutely nothing wrong then we have no reason to be upset with what happened?

The media dragged the Patriots through the mud. Not the league. The league was not squeezing footballs inflated at different levels on ESPN. The league wasn't crying on air because Brady "lied" in a press conference. The league wasn't calling for Belichick to be suspended from the Super Bowl or let the Colts play in the Super Bowl.

Who said that? Again, I am not saying the way the league handled Deflategate is right. In fact, I am pissed about it.

I am saying that calling for the Jets to get a huge punishment is not right or crying about favoritism towards them is unfounded at this point. You are trying to wrap Deflategate into what I feel about the Jets' tampering charge. I look at them as two separate things.

I think the league handled Deflategate totally wrong, but I don't expect any more from the league. I just don't think just because they bungled that investigation like they bungle every investigation the media cares about that the league should be extra harsh on the Jets especially when I look at what Johnson did as not a big deal.

Total bullsh.t. they didn't try to gloss over their sanctions for "spygate" they trumpeted them and crowed about how harsh they were and how they were making the Patriots an example. There was nothing "business a Usual" about it. And they deliberately dragged the Patriots through the mud and convicted them in the public eye during the lead up to the Super Bowl and now that it is obvious they f.cked up totally you think it is OK for them to try and cover up their malice and incompetence.

The League has allowed that to happen with many teams. In fact, teams try to get ahead of the league and dole out their own punishments on players to avoid league action. The 49ers did that with Aldon Smith.

The league was the source for the bad information. They even leaked the footage of the ballboy going to the bathroom while the Patriots were on their way to Arizona. It was as malicious as it gets and Kraft should sure them for it.

Wrong!!!!

Kensil = league.

Aldon Smith was an internal team issue.

In Tripgate the Rats mugged an opposing team's player.

The league is reactionary. They react to public and media pressure. If the media and public make a big deal about it, they allow that to sway how they handle it.

Look at Ray Rice. There were literally hundreds of players under Goodell's reign who have been accused or convicted of domestic violence (some worse than Rice) and either gotten an one game suspension or no suspension at all. But because the media cared about the Rice deal because of the video, he got a harsher penalty and when the second video came out he got an even harsher penalty.

Not saying it is right. In fact, it is very wrong. But it isn't Jets' favoritism. It is just a case of a bad reactionary Commisioner who bows to public pressure too easily when it comes to these things.

I'm not conflating them at all, you are. I clearly argued why I think the jets should be sanctioned for tampering and never linked it to deflategate. You are the one tying them all together and saying there is nothing wrong with a Friday media dump of all the news.

Wrong!!!!

Kensil = league.

So if the Wells investigation finds a rouge ball boy who deflated the balls without anyone's knowledge, you will support a suspension for Belichick and Kraft?

A Patriots' Ball Boy = The Patriots

Again, the league is responsible for their leaks. Never said otherwise. But it is different for one league employee with his ass on the line leaking things to deflect blame and make the Pats look bad than the league itself leaking stuff as a concerted effort to smear the Pats.

Huh?!? I don't think it is right for the league to dump all the punishments all at once on a Friday afternoon, but I don't look at it as some kind of favoritism towards the Jets. If the Wells report exonerates the Pats, it should be made very public on a Monday morning, I just know that isn't going to happen.

I just don't think it really means much if they delay the Jets' punishment and don't get why anyone cares that they didn't issue a punishment right away as long as they are fairly punished.

Then why did you start this all out by claiming it is not the league it's the media fault? By this statement you are actually saying what we have been saying all along.

It was the first case that came to mind.

btw the jests continue to put stuff out there that they'll do anything to get Revis all while he is still under contract. Ya I know can't do anything about that because they didn't say it directly. But come on.

So now you are suggesting that Mike Kensil is the league equivalent of the Patriots ball boy,?
