One of the Bills fans whose perspective I really enjoy over on Reddit put it pretty well here: http://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/2xufvr/schefter_filed_to_espn_bills_have_notified_lb/cp3hfdt
"Deep RB FA market? Deep RB draft class? LOL, why go that route when we can just trade one of our best defensive players for an older RB before we even try to fix our ****ty god awful broken offensive line or weak RB depth that was the real source of the problem?"
I'm so ****ing pissed now. This is idiotic.
That pretty much sums it up. I would be livid if I was a Bills fan. Every move has an opportunity cost, and this was a big one. After trading away their 1st last year, the Bills have limited resources for getting better. It's just plain stupid to spend a bunch of those resources upgrading an area that wasn't even one of the five biggest problems on your offense last year.I'm so ****ing pissed now. This is idiotic.
