Wow, what a fun game.
Have you ever watched a game with that big a lead that was that exciting to the end?
Denver was able to drive the ball down the field, but like the old team that was on the field at half-time, the defense tightened up in the red zone.
Offense
Brady definitely seems more accurate and more mobile this season. And the offense is improving as the players continue to learn.
Patriots finally figured out an offensive line alignment. I am pleasantly surprised how good Wendell is at right guard.
LaFell has clearly learned the routes and adjustments, and is playing with confidence and speed. He seems to be exactly where Brady expects him to be.
Gronkowski seems to have emerged from two seasons of rehab better than before. There were definitely concerns that with major injuries to arm, back, and knee that he might be robbed of his athleticism.
Edelman is now a third option, where he can thrive. Tim Wright can be a fourth option, and Tyms an occasional home run threat.
Running game has some concerns, but the rules favor the passing game.
Defense
Obviously impressed with what Ayers has offered so quickly. He provides a nice option, and can help get the Pats through this tough stretch without Chandler Jones.
How did the run defense suddenly tighten up? That was amazing. Every hole that was open the past several weeks was closed Sunday. Occasionally sloppy tackling.
I've never seen a pass defense give up over 400 yards and still look good. Chung definitely flashed as a solid pass defender. Butler's technique looked good - is he another rookie flash like cousin Darius, Terrence Wheatley, Devin McCourty, Alfonzo Dennard, Logan Ryan, or will he be the real deal? Looking for Browner getting through an entire half penalty-free.
The big difference in the game was those fourth-down's - defense was perfect, and stopped multiple scoring drives. Good as an interception.
Special teams
Turned the game. Big punts, big returns, great coverage on short kicks into the wind, long field goal.
