And congratulations for TB passing Elway for 5th all time in total passing yards. Seemed an appropriate game for it :D.

The shot of Elway in the dark in his box was classic. It reminded me of the dirty owner sitting in the dark in the movie The Natural.

I was impressed by the way the O-line and the D-line played.

I was impressed by all of it. I wasn't sure what to expect but it wasn't that. Seems like everyone came up huge. Except for the INT, no turnovers. A bit penalty heavy in parts but the team really limited the mistakes for the most part.

I was a little annoyed with the dropped balls and the overall ineffectiveness of the running game, but you can't have everything in life. AT least there is something to improve on because if we see Denver again (which you know we will) they will have learned from this. We can't be the victims of the second matchup letdown, like we were last year.

d%#*!@t man, just when I thought nothing could outdo the Caserio stare of your avatar, this guy comes along.

I think it's Thomas Dimitroff, GM of the Falcons, from BBs days at Cleveland.

Alot of whining about the Refs over on the Bronco's board. Broncos had 10 penalties for 72 yards and the Pats had 9 for 71. Not seeing much bias there.

I saw bias. The first Bronco TD was a gift from the refs.

As I watching watching nfl gameday morning yesterday it dawned on me that the national media gave the Patriots very little hope of beating the Broncos. Some reporters even saying the weather was the only hope the patriots had and it's going to be a blow out the Patriots just don't got what they need to beat this quote unquote all mighty power Broncos team. Last night was a prime example of why we never second guess Brady. There is one big difference between Brady and Manning Brady can play in clutch situations you can throw Brady into any situation and he will make it work. I'm sick and tired of hear about the Broncos being this mega team who owns the nfl and nobody stand near them. Last night the patriots kicked down that door and said "hey we too can play football" and they shut them down.

The spin has started . So far on NFLN - "They showed the wind" . "Denver didnt come to play". "Patriots in foxboro dont lose". Blah Blah ....
I was flicking through the channels to see what the media was going to say about this game, (after all it was hyped all last week) and low and behold i repeatedly see the steelers win over the ravens as the number one story. Rothlesrapper did have another six td game, (and that is pretty remarkable) But if statman and the broncos had won i doubt the steelers/ravens game would get the same attention.

The penalties were actually pretty even. I don't think the refs are out to get anybody. They were just doing their job. But on the drive of the Broncos last TD, PATS should really be more disciplined than that. All 3 penalties on that drive were blatant and could have been avoided while still stopping the Broncos. The PATS' penalty count would look a lot better if it weren't for the stupid penalties on that drive.

But hey, who cares about right and wrong; right guys? I don't know, I'm just not one to make excuses and blame others for shortcomings...

Wow, what a fun game.
Have you ever watched a game with that big a lead that was that exciting to the end?
Denver was able to drive the ball down the field, but like the old team that was on the field at half-time, the defense tightened up in the red zone.

Offense
Brady definitely seems more accurate and more mobile this season. And the offense is improving as the players continue to learn.
Patriots finally figured out an offensive line alignment. I am pleasantly surprised how good Wendell is at right guard.
LaFell has clearly learned the routes and adjustments, and is playing with confidence and speed. He seems to be exactly where Brady expects him to be.
Gronkowski seems to have emerged from two seasons of rehab better than before. There were definitely concerns that with major injuries to arm, back, and knee that he might be robbed of his athleticism.
Edelman is now a third option, where he can thrive. Tim Wright can be a fourth option, and Tyms an occasional home run threat.
Running game has some concerns, but the rules favor the passing game.

Defense
Obviously impressed with what Ayers has offered so quickly. He provides a nice option, and can help get the Pats through this tough stretch without Chandler Jones.
How did the run defense suddenly tighten up? That was amazing. Every hole that was open the past several weeks was closed Sunday. Occasionally sloppy tackling.
I've never seen a pass defense give up over 400 yards and still look good. Chung definitely flashed as a solid pass defender. Butler's technique looked good - is he another rookie flash like cousin Darius, Terrence Wheatley, Devin McCourty, Alfonzo Dennard, Logan Ryan, or will he be the real deal? Looking for Browner getting through an entire half penalty-free.
The big difference in the game was those fourth-down's - defense was perfect, and stopped multiple scoring drives. Good as an interception.

Special teams
Turned the game. Big punts, big returns, great coverage on short kicks into the wind, long field goal.

Pats were the more agressive team....alot of manning teams seem to have the same "makeup" in that IMO they are soft. If you hit them in the face and play agressive defense they wilter.

same thing happened against the seahawks earlier in the year and in the superbowl. Belicheck has finally built a defense to counter mannings offense.

No. With the current rules, Manning is going to get his yards. We were competitive in coverage all day and pressured him up the middle at key times. That's the best you can do. There will be no more 20-3 games like in 2004.
Miami says hi.

Can somebody check the play where they faked the punt presnap and then subbed in the offense? As many times as I look at that play, I can only see 10 defenders. Can somebody else confirm?

anyone else wanted to see someone rip wards head off after going very low on gronk in the first and came up clapping...chump

Only on Boston sports radio do people whine about missed calls against the home team.

"Ayers should've gotten a penalty on the sack!" "Wright should've been flagged on the punt return!"

Hilarious thing is neither of those were penalties.

Mike Carey said on the broadcast that it was a good no-call regarding Tim Wright's block. I think it was because it wasn't those blatant blocks in the back where a guy just shoves him. Wright slightly blocked him with his shoulder and then let up and the bronco player didn't go to the ground.

Ayers was not a penalty because it was a freaking form tackle. His hit was to Manning's thighs.

He wasn't blocked to the ground and then lunged at him (Brady Rule) and he didn't dive at the knee (Palmer Rule). Not. A. Penalty.

I wanted to check out a couple of Broncos-area newspapers to see what they were saying about the game.

First thing I found was that Colorado's second largest newspaper has an entire section of their online newspaper devoted to Peyton Manning. Seems kind of strange to me, especially when you consider he's only been there a couple of years. Not so strange is that this section has no mention of Sunday's game in Foxborough.

Here is one post-game column, by a reporter who seemingly wanted to write more about Robert Kraft and his half time comments commemorating the players who were with the Patriots for all three Super Bowl championships than anything else - though in the video he warns Denver fans that the Broncos do not want to return to New England in January.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - This is where ManningFace was made....

After his interception, Manning made the familiar grumpy face that turns the Gillette crowd so giddy.
