Rumor: Larry Fitzgerald to the Pats

So THAT'S why Browner was absent today..they traded him for Fitzgerald! :p

Seriously though, doesn't his contract make him pretty much untradeable?
His salary is crazy. I would want no part of that for a 31 year old receiver. He has $8m in base salary and another $8m in roster bonus next year. According to spotrac.com. The following years he will have $15m, $14,75m, and $14,75m as base salary.

but if he did come.........................

This story is a bunch of garbage. The Phoenix Business Journal is citing Sports World Report. Who? Exactly. Sports World Report is citing ESPN. Yet there's not a link to the ESPN article, and nobody else is citing ESPN. Either they made this all up and attributed it to ESPN for the traction, or they're completely misinterpreting what ESPN said somewhere.

I would absolutely want him even at thst price. Brady is 37- it's all or nothing at this point. I would rather have a 4th ring and be in salary cap hell.

Don't get my hopes up.

he has an $1 million base this year. The problem with this trade talk is that he has something like $22 million in dead money. I don't know if the Cards can take the cap hit. For the Pats, it is a negligible cap hit this year. Next year, he would be cut without a renegotiation if the Pats traded for him before the trade deadline.

Because of his future contract, there is no way the Pats would give up a lot of for him unless he was willing to renegotiate.

I wouldn't. Fitzgerald isn't getting younger and hasn't looked that impressive this year. We have a fairly young team that should be able to be competetive in five years too. This isn't a win now or never team with just a bunch of old guys.

I don't want us to loose out on our young players(that would have to happen to get Fitzgerald) just to get him and try and win now and completely forfeit the future.

Adam Schefter told me at my friend's niece's sweet 16 that Desean Jackson wants out of Washington and is likely to be traded to the Pats.

Then where will you be in the years of mediocrity that will follow?

I'd sooner be a contender for ten more years than sacrifice all that for one ring for on bloody player. This team is not about Tom Brady.

On topic; I'll believe it when I see it. We hear this every year. He would need a massive restructure as he hasn't got a lot left in him. Two to three years at most.

Here's the good news. We traded for Larry Fitzgerald. Here's the bad news. We had to give up Tom Brady to get him. :D

I would rather spend capital in a pass rusher to replace Ninkovich

It would be something to see Fitz, Gronk, Edelman and Wright all out running pass patterns together against the Broncos defense come AFCC game time.

Should be easy to acquire him - should only cost a 2016 6th or 7th round pick, since we've previously established that Fitzgerald for Mallett straight up was a fair deal.....

Are you accusing me of being a bandwagoner? How do you know this team will contend for 10 more years with garappolo? You have one of the top 5 QBs of all time - load the deck in his last few years.

He would fit a need for us and i'm confident he would do well. Floyd has passed him and he's more a possession receiver.

If moss couldn't guarantee a ring, Fitzgerald isn't going to be able to either.

this team is not ONE piece away from a ring,

They are also one injury away from having Brandon Lafell as their only primary, playing, even remotely productive WR. JE has had one full healthy year here - last year.

If this is true, which I doubt it is, I hope Amendola goes to Arizona as part of the deal. That would be ideal for balancing out his affect on the cap.

Also, yes, all in as much as possible. JAG isn't taking us to any Superbowls. You know how hard that is? Brady's only been to five and he's the GOAT. Andrew Luck doesn't even know what a Conference Championship is yet.

Need the 4th ring and post 2007 Superbowl win with Tom on the team.

Okay people, we need a lesson in thread titling. When a thread title states, "Rumor: AWESOME THING COULD HAPPEN!", I open it expecting to see a credible source that could at least give me hope.

In this case, the thread title should have just been a troll face.
