I honestly have no idea. He was fired from an underperforming Miami and NY team and was out of football before the pats hired him. I find it hard to believe this is the best that Scar and BB could come up with.
You might want to check your facts. Here's a few:
1. DeGuglielmo worked for Tom Coughlin on the Giants from 2004-2008, including the 2007 SB team that defeated the Pats. He was the assistant OL coach from 2005-2008. The 2008 Giants set franchise rushing records for rushing yards and YPC.
2. DeGuglielmo left the Giants after 4 years and went to Miami in 2009 to become OL coach, where he was reunited with Tony Sparano, with whom he had previously worked at Boston College. During that time he also worked with Brian Daboll, who was the Miami OC in 2011. During that season Reggie Bush rushed for over 1000 yards for the first time in his career. Miami gave up 34 sacks in 2009 (17th most in the NFL) and rushed for 2231 yards.
3. DeGuglielmo was hired away form the Dolphins by the Jets (not fired) in 2012. The Dolphins fired Tony Sparano after the 2011 season, and new HC Joe Philbin wanted to bring in his own staff, so Miami gave the Jets permission to interview DeGuglielmo. During his single year with the Jets, among other things, he was known for publicly questioning the decision to start 2011 2nd round bust Vladimir Ducasse:

He was fired by the Jets after that debacle of a season, and spent 2013 in Radio. He was the 10th Jets coach to be fired that offseason, including the OC who hired him, Tony Sparano. Not surprising. He's worked with a number of top linemen, including D'Brickashaw Fergusion, Nick Mangold, Jake Long, Chris Snee and Shaun O'Hara.
I'm not defending DeGuglielmo. The OL sucks right now, and if it doesn't get fixed his head will eventually be on a platter. But the OL sucked last season under Scar, so it's not like he's turning an elite unit into a pile of sh*t. And it will take more than 3 games to sort things out, one way or the other.
