Hey guys, Cowboys fan here, but I closely watch the Pats for fantasy football. I always draft Gronk, I draft Brady when I can, and I'm a big believer in Vereen this year.
Anyways, I drafted Dobson in every single one of my five fantasy leagues this season. I've been watching Dobson closely since last year.
I just feel like he is going to end up being Brady's only true deep threat and I keep having these visions of his being Brady's poor man's version of Randy Moss. Am I way off base here or do you guys agree with me? I stuck it out with him when he was a healthy scratch last week when I could have picked up some other guys. I'm still a believer. Thompkins and LaFell just don't have the talent that Dobson does.
Since this thread has turned into a Patterson thread, let me go in another direction. As a Cowboy's fan, what is the general consensus of fans on Jerry Jones?
I've never met the guy, but my wife's family has a modest place that overlooks one of his summer houses. Several of my wife's family have met him years (10-15) ago, they said he was friendly, engaging, and charming. The kids used to spend a lot of time up there and have a slight partying reputation, but that may have been gossip, they pretty much kept to themselves and never bothered anyone (a deputy sheriff often was on site to shoo away anyone who got too close to the house). In recent years I think it is the wife and grandkids that mostly stay there, I guess the kids are into the family business now.
To be clear: I don't think he is much of a general manager. However, clearly he is a very smart guy and an absolutely brilliant businessman (if you don't believe me, look up:

If I was a NFL owner, I'm 99% sure that I would follow Bob Kraft's lead and hire smart people and not interfere. However, 1% of me remembers years ago before I went into academia and I managed a small group of researchers. My boss and I busted our butt to bring in a research contract that looked like lots of fun, involving travel to an interesting place, several weeks of work at an interesting national lab. We were looking for some underling to train to do the job, and we looked at each other and said: "Why should we bust our butt only to have someone else have all of the fun?", and we went ourselves.
I guess there is a small part of me that understands a guy who busted his butt and now "doesn't want someone else to have all of the fun".
How do you and other Cowboy fans view him?
