I don't find surveys like this very credible, because so much depends on the details of design. Still, it's off-season, so I thought I'd share. The metric is what fraction of the people who've heard of somebody have a bad impression. I have no idea how they selected candidates for the list, or how many there were; for all I know ranking 7th is a pretty benign result.

1 Donald Sterling 92
2 Bernie Madoff 90
T3 O.J. Simpson 88
T3 Conrad Murray 88
5 Justin Bieber 86
6 Phil Spector 83
7 Aaron Hernandez 81
8 Michael Lohan 76
9 Eliot Spitzer 73
10 Jon Gosselin 71

Donald Sterling disliked by 92 percent of America, according to poll - ESPN Los Angeles

All ambulance chasing shyster lawyers !!!

where's Bucky 'effin Dent on that list?

Donald Sterling is ahead of two alleged murderers? Hmmm. I wonder what the target audience was for THIS poll?

Jon Gosselin

lol seriously? this must be the "most disliked MEN in america"

These ridiculous polls are too heavily skewed by whomever has been getting the most (negative) press as of late. Donald Sterling has dominated the media for the past month or so, so naturally he is at the top. As time and memory fades, they will all move downward to be replaced by the newest villain du jour.

When an offensive person is more disliked than a serial killer, a list of dislikes is flawed imho

It depends on the way you look at it. Sterling has rorted the NBA system for years basically operating the team as a welfare beneficiary. He's systematically ruined peoples' lives through litigation because he has deeper pockets and has been a known racist (amongst other things) for decades.

You can build a case for why Sterling is atop that list.

Understood but no matter how heinous Sterling is/may be, as far as we know he hasn't "allegedy" murdered people for spilling a drink on him. I would say the latter portion of that sentence has ruined, no, ended more lives than Sterling has... "allegedly."

This is true, but don't fool yourself. He isn't atop that list because he engaged in systematic housing discrimination or because he made derogatory remarks about Hispanic tenants or because he is a typical sleazy lawyer.

He did all those things and no one cared. Heck, the NAACP was planning to give him a man-of-the-year award before those tapes were released. Even the high-and-mighty Doc Rivers was perfectly happy signing a contract to coach for Sterling.

Once I saw Bieber's name I had #1

you all KNOW what's gonna happen to Bieber, right?...here's the perfect allegory

How does Roger Goodell escape this list? Did Jim Irsay get multiple votes?

The problem with USA is that we're all ready to hate on people for saying something that we don't like.
F those awful men, but there is not enough positivity these days among all of us.

Donald Sterling is no worse than your old Uncle Joe... or perhaps, you. He may be a jerk, and/or a moron, but he should be able to speak privately about his own personal views, which were at one point acceptable in the exact spot you stand. It doesn't make it right, but there is a lot of wrong out there going uncorrected...

Oh well, 2 BBBBillion for $$terling to walk away from a game he never truly loved; what a punishment.

Everybody needs to calm down and get along. Usually if something bothers you, it shouldn't.

TIL that not liking a group of people is worse than murder.

When I read the thread title, I was actually expecting to see BB on this list o_O

Why post a list that you feel isn't credible?

When I saw the title of the thread I knew exactly what it would be, a list of who the media feels needs to be disliked. Most of the people in this world are easily swayed.

Personally, I can't look at any list of disliked people that doesn't have Jane Fonda at the top.

I'd completely forgotten about Commie Jane. Wasn't alive in that era, but my dad was in the Marines during 'Nam and, naturally, always has some choice words when the topic of Jane Fonda pops up.
