Kelvin Benjamin Highlights 2013 - FSU WR

mod edit:

A Public Service Announcement:

Benjamin is just one of many potential draftees that the Patriots have met with. For those of you that may not be aware, there is a Draft Talk Forum on this site, which includes a thread on the Patriots' http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...3/1100343-2014-draft-contact-list-page13.html.

In all the Patriots have met with 48 college players, including eight other receivers. A full list that is continuously updated can be found here:

Don't get your hopes up.

Definitely some amazing catches!

Yeah, there's no way in hell he's lasting until 29. He also ran a pretty slow 40 time, but that's not what he'll be drafted high for. He would fit in perfectly for an offense like Baltimore's that likes to lob up jump balls.

He also drops the easy ones. Apparently it's a concentration thing, the last thing this team needs is a WR who can only get switched on at certain points.

Hopefully it's a smokescreen or an attempt to get a partner to trade out of #29 with.

It's obvious he pats want to continue to upgrade at receiver.

It's also obvious that they're doing what many wanted them to do at the end of 2012 which is get bigger, more physical, and more athletic at the position.

I don't think we'll take him if he's there and it's probably below 50-50 he'll he there but there's 5 WR who could go before him and it's a deep draft. There's absolutely a chance he will be. In this draft the "he won't be there" line needs to be used carefully because compared to last year there's probably 40 players who won't be there at #29.

It's sad that the fans are a year ahead of the front office. :(

As Sircole noted in the draft forum....can we start posting draft stuff in the main forum now btw  ...Benjamin is a like for like comparison to Jermichael Finley in terms of size and athleticism, even down to the bench press. It's not often that BB is in with a chance of drafting a freak of nature like this. I wouldn't rule it out.

I wouldn't rule it out. We lacked size over the middle last year and we lacked a redzone threat. Benjamin potentially fixes both. He's not without his flaws, but that's why he's available to us and not likely to be taken in the top 15.

As I said before, I don't think he'll get past the Ravens. He's a perfect fit for that offense and they still need help at that position.

Benjamin would fascinate me but the reasons I expect us to pass if he's there are :

- We already have Mark Harrison who is similarly big but actually faster.

- Bill usually plays it safe in the first round with Seniors with plenty of college experience. Benjamin is leaving as a redshirt sophomore having played only two years.

- We've never drafted a WR in the first round with Bill, the second round is his WR round for whatever reason.

All that said, the reason it would fascinate me is that he's got great upside and his relative youth means his negatives may me more fixable.

BTW, he's 23 years old, so he's not that young for a redshirt sophomore.

They also need a Safety and possibly a DE and NT.

If the Ravens go WR I think it'll be someone more like Marqise Lee, Kelvin Benjamin at 17 seems like a reach to me.

Your underestimating the power of the hoodie to trade up....

I have been saying this for years, if only Belichick and Caserio knew as much as the fans who really know football on this site, this would be a winning franchise instead of the losers we are stuck with. Belichick is always three steps behind and the fans here 3 steps ahead. It makes me soooooo mad.

I have been wondering if they see him as a possible replacement for The Prisoner, but I agree that there is a strong likelihood that Baltimore, Pittsburgh, or another team in need of a big WR grab him first.

The Patriots have had great success with their UDFA'ss, and while I won't hold my breath it would be a big plus if Harrison suddenly turned into a quality NFL player.

I would add one further argument against it: Brandon Coleman. He doesn't have the 240lb body, but in every other regard, he's the same physical specimen and he could be had much later.

They have now had contact with Coleman, Evans and Benjamin. I think there's definite interest in adding this bigger bodied receiver.
