Peyton hasn't lost to the same team twice in a season?

I've heard this stated numerous times in the media but it is completely false. In 2000 he lost to Miami in the regular season and then lost to them in the playoffs. In 2003 and 2004 he lost to NE in the regular season as well as in the playoffs. In 2007 he lost to SD in the regular season and then again in the playoffs.

Am I missing something?

It was a stat CBS put on the screen during their Divisional round game. I don't recall the exact parameters of it but it wasn't so simple as Manning hasn't lost to the same team twice in a season. There were qualifiers in there such as since a certain year or something.

Perhaps because this Peyton Manning that they are talking about, the only thing that matters is the regular season (and stats that occur within that time frame).




Except that wouldn't make the statement factual either, Manning lost twice to the Patriots in 2001, and twice to the Dolphins in that same season.

In 2002 he lost to the Titans twice in the regular season.

In 2003 as mentioned above he lost to the Patriots twice.

In 2004 he again lost to the Pats in the regular season and then a second time in the playoffs.

In 2007 Manning lost to Philip Rivers and the Chargers in the regular season, then lost again in the playoffs.



Maybe they meant Manning hasn't lost twice to the same team twice since he became a Denver Bronco? If so, that's a ridiculous stat, since there have been so few teams that he has faced twice in a season as he's only been there for two years.

You have to discount Brady's accomplishments because he had the great Bill Belichick as a coach, and you have to discount Belichick's accomplishments because he had the great Tom Brady as a quarterback. So really, neither of them have accomplished anything impressive.

Heath Miller, Brian Billick and L.T. were discussing this last night on NFL Network and all agreed this stat was a very big deal. After listening to them I too thought it was a pretty significant stat. Glad to hear the truth on this.

Even if it was true I would not have been worried. Over the last half of the season we've been better than Denver in just about every category. I love this matchup. Our secondary is the healthiest it has been since the beginning of the year when our pass D was a top 5 unit. The only advantage Denver has is homefield and I don't think that will be enough.
