Won't it be fun to see who we draft now?

Whoever it is, we already have a stronger team than last year.

Beloli ain't kidding around.

There you go again with the reading comprehension. Putting words up that aren't there.

Yes, I know you CLAIM that history is not on the Pats side. I challenged you to prove your claim. You have not done so.

Also, please show me a season where the Redskins went 12-4 and then have signed GOOD (not mediocre) free agents.

And please show me where I have called other teams "The Redskins when it came to winning free agency?
well maybe not you personally, but the great thing about this debate is, it will all be settled during the 07 season, and one of us will be right and the other, wrong :D

Well, if the Pats don't get a good run-stuffing ILB, I agree that the Chargers will probably run on the Pats. However, the Chargers got to face the Pats without Seau. And, even though I didn't like the signing, Seau proved that he still has what it takes. The Pats defense with Seau in there was limited teams tremendously on the run. Without Seau, teams ran on us.
oh i hope you guys have seau by the time we play whenever that is

now if CJ gets healthy and learns the playbook..we could have the fastest pair of WRs in league :O

Next year! Or maybe this year, who knows:D We have no timetable on his return but we do know he has the youth and the ability to contribute heavily. The trick is keeping him on the field. If he can come back (and stay there) and if Donte can keep his hammies happy also, we should be in for an offensive treat by playoff time.

Fencer, check out Miguel's future hits section. Prior to the Stallworth signing, the Pats were going to have 30+ in cap space next year. That will change because of the rookies and Stallworth singing, probably be about 20 million, but still, 20 million is a lot of money to spend.

Wow, that says to me there should be ample cash to keep Warren here for a long time.

What other potential FA's are up for next year??

I would rather have Patrick Willis roaming the inside...:D
what's the deal with him anyway, i hear mid 1st in one draft, then i hear mid 2nd in the other. i wouldn't be surprised at all if you guys took him at 24 or 28

comparing 2003 offseason to this one is not even close

That's ridiculous. If this FA class matches the contributions of the Pats signing Colvin, Harrison and Poole, we'll be very happy indeed - and that's WITH Colvin hurt most of the year.

YOUR argument is that the team that "wins" the FA sweepstakes historically does poorly. That Patriots team, which "won" the FA sweepstakes that year, went to the Super Bowl (and then went again) and won (both times). YOU NEED TO REALIZE THAT WE KNOW MORE THAN YOU, especially about the Patriots.

You're a bandwagoner from Socal - I live in L.A. and listened to the sportstalk ALL WEEK leading up to the game v. SD. You people were convinced the Pats shouldn't even step on the field. That it would be a blow-out. Sorry, ****y losers. It's the PATRIOTS you were dealing with. Brady, Belichick. Eat it, troll.

If it's one thing that you've got to love about the Pats... it's that nothing stays the same. They took a look at the teams around the league last year, saw that they could do some damage in FA this year and held back. Last year was a mini-rebuilding year... and they were minutes from another SB? Is there a better coach than BB? Is there a better FA than ours? I am consistently amazed by our team. I am proud to be a Pats fan.... IN BB I TRUST (from a football perspective) Go Pats.

As regarding the contract I would say the deal is structured simalar to what Javon Walker and Denver did....anyone have them figures. That was like a year deal turning into a longer deal if he did good. Something about him getting huge signing bonuses after the first year, basically first year cheap.

FTR, I don't like this signing AT ALL unless there are some serious protections built in. That's a TON of money for a guy in the substance abuse program, no matter how "harmless" (which it never is anyway) the situation may appear. It's also a TON of money for a guy who been a disappointment since he was drafted and who had only 38 catches last year.

A disappointment? He had 70 balls for 945 in '05. Oh yeah, those 38 catches last year averaged 19.1 ypc. He also had five TDs. He's a good receiver. I can't say if he is elite or not, but he is good. He could be an elite guy with Brady tossin the rock to him. It is a hefty contract, but not a TON. If they have some provisions to protect against a suspension for substance abuse it will make me happy. But Stallworth's career numbers are better than Branch's, and he comes cheaper (and in FA).

haha , so you're saying a cut rodney, and a colvin and a poole is equal to a stallworth adalius ? i dont see it....

oh and i'm sure you know more about the pats than me, i'd hope so.

as for sportstalk...only ******s call in to sportstalk shows, you should know that.

so ya live in LA eh? , well i used to live in san diego, but now i'm up in montreal.

so a pats fan living in LA , how'd that happen? you a bandwagon fan?

Jcdavey, I think everyone is excited because all these signings make sense.

I don't think we'd be doing back-flips if the ESPN breaking news was that we traded a 1st rounder for Dwight Freeney. With us using a 3-4, that move would make no sense at all. We'd be going nuts.

Even you have said that Thomas is perfect for the defense. Wes Welker simply screams Troy Brown. (younger version) Brady and Morris are cheap backups that are capable starters in a pinch. (not great starters) Stallworth is the speed we've never had under Belichick, at least the speed we can count on week after week. Guys like Bethel Johnson just weren't consistent enough. Stallworth should be, and like someone mentioned, he's played in more games the past three seasons than Deion Branch, with better results.

We didn't give Leonard Davis the largest signing bonus in team history. We didn't sign Dockery to a $7 million per year contract. We didn't make Nate Clements the highest paid defender ever. The contracts are fair. Everyone has a purpose. We aren't sitting here wondering where or how we'll use someone we just signed.

The best way I can put it: Looking at the skill-sets of the players we've picked up, it feels like they've been in this system for several years already.

That's much different from the historical "free agency winners." With that, it's about signing the best available S, best DE, best OG and best TE. Are they what the team needs? Who knows, but they are the best available.

Were your feelings similar when the Pats signed Sammy Morris?

Career :

Stallworth : 195-2791
Branch : 213 - 2744

Drafted the same year.

hey i'd be excited too, i'm just saying i'd be wary too. you guys are in a great position though, even if it doesn't work out, it's not like you've never won the big one right?

I 100% now think we should trade a 1st for an 08 first plus a 07 bonus.

Also, anyone have a list of maybe 08 free agents

I guess I wouldn't mind that, though it obviously depends on who is left on the board. The top of the draft is pretty deep and someone will fall. It might be someone perfect for New England.

I'll check on the 08 free agents.
