OFFICIAL Saturday 1/4/2014 Wild Card games thread

Thanks Ray, so proud of the boys. We know we are not going far, but its nice to make history, and win one on the road, thanks
I think everybody left has a chance to go far. I wouldn't give up yet. I doubt Seattle, even at home, will lay another beating on NO as they did a month ago. It'll be tough to win, but not impossible.

look at what a running game can do?

I witnessed it live last week against buffalo. The Edelman diving and bobbled third and short catch...We were running for five plus a carry consistently all night. If it ain't broke don't fix it. They hadn't stopped the run period and Edelman made a great catch on a fastball of a six yard (in the air, maybe) pass.

Then again I was saying how dumb Blount was for running out the first big kick just before he ran through the wall and got tripped up by the kicker (c'mon man...)

Man I would love the saints to blown the hawks out of the water. I think those sea chickens are going to be to ****y this year and won't make the SB.

Petey. Anyone remember Bledsoe waving off the punt team in Miami? Know who the head coach was that says nothing of the mutiny? No disciplinary action? Petey certainly presents an excellent opportunity to provide an example of the definition of out coached.

Their a mean team and fans, but Im not sure we are good enouph for that. Brees almost cost us the game again on the road. Brees is not Brady, and sometimes he tries to hard. The D and team won this game, not Brees.

I know but those people trash talkin ****y people and players. It will come and bite them in the @$$.

I have always beat my buddy in archery. I have out shot him every time. I know he will beat me but I am never ****y. Stay humble and don't talk yourself into a bad situation. And I think Seattle will do just that, talk too much trash and will get beat. And I think the saints know how to beat Seattle with another shot at knocking them down.

We win the 1st away game ever in our history since 1967. SP and the 2014 Saints did that. Im very proud, and ask nothing more. at heart we are a simple people. Thats 47 years of never winning on the road. Its a big step.
I hope as a fan we can have a team to win it all, but so do you and I think its ok that they accoplished this important thing and fail, we love them as fans.
Seattle has humilated us 2x, and their fans are very rude, made fun of us, but thats up to the boys.
Im proud of our defence, and what we have done this year. IF Seattle wants to humiliate us again, we are still proud of the boys.

Saints now need to win at Seattle, or this game means very little. Please beat those
A-Hole Ravens of the West Coast, and don't forget to send Chip Kelly, Billy Davis &
Alex Henery some Thank You cards on your way home.

I think our team is pretty humble, and that winning a SB is pretty impossible. Their fans and team made fun of us. That was not the right thing to do.
But we are happy with how far we have come. We are 0 for 46 years to winning a away game.
Ill be so nervious watching that game, but never lose faith in our boys. But we know its equil to putting pig on the moon for us to win 3 away games and a SB ,lol.

We are soo proud of your team to. So many injuries, so tough, and your boys fight so hard.
They never stop, really think your in the big show

That's a lot of disrespect to the Colts if those lines hold. 7.5 seems pretty high if we were to play them next week.

Denver would be 11.5 point favorites?!

I'd take the Colts in a 2 game teaser and make it 18.5 points.

I am just saying he isn't made out of glass. You have to look at his injuries he has sustained. ANYONE would have been injured on the hits he sustained to get injured.

You guys are telling me, if a lineman fell on your arm awkwardly, a guy hit you right in the knee with a huge blow and a guy purposely tried to injure me is made out of glass?? No it isn't. Gronk is durable but you can't take those hits that he has and not expect injuries.

Failing to avoid situations that get you injured is part of being injury prone.

Being successful while avoiding injury is the mark of greatness. See the difference between the reckless Edelman of 2012 vs the less explosive but more consistent 2013 version.

And we may see that going forward. But he isn't glass and hasn't been injury prone in the NFL IMO.

I don't dislike Luck.

As for facts, so it wasn't a fact that the Chiefs didn't have tons of injuries in this game where they lost a lot of key personnel?

And if you want deal with facts, stop saying the Chiefs are one of the better defenses in the NFL. Their defense has been average for the last few months.

Yes, it is an amazing comeback, but let's not pretend it wasn't in part because the Colts were able to take advantage of key injuries to the Chiefs. I can't remember seeing a team lose so many key members of their team in a single playoff game.

Look it's one game. I'm not ready to put Luck in the HOF. He's got a long way to go and many playoff games to win before he earns membership into the Brady-Manning-Montana group...a LONG way to go. But what is up with the clear rationalizing about this game and Luck?? What just happened was a fantastic accomplishment by Luck, no asterisk, parenthesis, small print needed. I don't care if the Chiefs had all their second stringers in (which they didn't). To be down 38 to 10 in the third quarter, in a playoff game, to then score 5 straight touchdowns through the air in the playoffs against an 11 win team including a must have last 5 minutes of the game TD (doing it with arguably a relatively weak receiving group and so-so OL)?? That certainly earns Luck extremely high praise, period.

Of course KC had something to do with the loss. Anytime a team is up that much in the second half and loses, they had a hand in their own loss. You should NEVER lose when you are up 4 TDs in the third quarter and total 44 points in scoring. Denver losing to the Patriots a few weeks ago is another example. Denver had a hand in their own demise too but that doesn't take away from what Brady/Patriots did or justify any Denver fans whining about the Patriots simply getting fortunate. There's a reason why comebacks of this magnitude are rare and almost always done by teams with top line QB's.

I'm not saying that to be an Ahole to you, I don't have any problem with you, I'm just telling you you look like a poor sport (for lack of a better phrase) when you can't just tip your cap to someone (even if you don't like them) when they lead their team to a near all time record playoff comeback (even when it was aided by factors outside of Luck's own efforts such as injuries).

I called the "comeback!!!!" early in the third quarter. It's right in these threads. The ol' "Greatest Quarteebacker of All Time YEE HAW!!!!" versus "The Future!!!!"...signed ,sealed and delivered for next weekend like an Undertaker versus the Rock title shot. They made it LOOK like a real close one but I wouldn't be surprised if the league and Goodell didn't already trademark this upcoming game like they did the "Harbaugh Bowl" in February, a full year be3fore the Ravens/SF matchup.

Face it, it's the Manning Deification Postseason Jamboree and we're all just the captive audience suckers paying through the nose for the privilege to watch this dog and pony show.

Joke, I don't doubt the NFL wants specific names to win. All the leagues, not just the NFL, want to sell 'Marketable Name X versus Marketable Name Y'. The NBA back in the day being able to sell "Bird vs Magic" must have been their dream come true. Also, Leagues want the bigger TV markets to win. A NY vs Chicago playoff game usually means more eyes watching more commercials for drugs, cars, beer and the 'bacon bowl'. It then doesn't help when the NFL overlooks pretty clear evidence that Manning didn't break the passing yards record. They open themselves up to charges their actions/manipulations are 'fishy'.
With that said, I just don't see the hand of the NFL in Saturday's game's ref-ing. The KC v Indy game was for the most part a fairly routine playoff game. Whether this is proper or not, they ref-ed under the 'let them play' rule book. I saw just as many plays where I thought KC got away with a penalty as the Colts. And I would assume the NFL would want Brees to win (his name is known and marketable where no one on Philly has that gravitas) yet I didn't see anything in that game that leads me to believe the Saints were being favored by the refs.
A bit hard to believe but so far the ref-ing seemed generally ok--not perfect but acceptable. But if they are going to ref using the 'let them play' (I'm ok with that) keep it that way uniformly thru the game. Don't allow extra tight coverage all game only to throw a flag in the fourth quarter for something that has been overlooked all game. That's all I ask of RG/the NFL.....

I believe that Manning and his Broncos probably have a very good chance of representing the AFC in the Super Bowl, even if that doesn't come close to guaranteeing them a definite victory. I think we have a chance, but my concern is that we may come up a bit short due to the unfortunate circumstances that the team has had to try and overcome this season.

This all said, do you honestly and seriously believe that the NFL is fixed on some level? It seems like you are insinuating that in so many words.

I am out of the country and was trying to catch up with the scores on nfl.com. Felt very happy for you guys pulling it off in conditions that you guys are reported to have problems with. Hope this much deserved tough win + prior loss to the Seahawks = fuels your momentum and leading to another W on the road. :)

Congrats!
