Manx, a suggestion could be to relay and set up deadlines in advance. Broadway Joe did this back when he ran the mocks. It would look something like:
Monday:
Pick 1 8am (whatever timezone everyone agrees upon)
Pick 2 10am
Pick 3 12pm
Pick 4 2pm
Pick 5 4pm
Pick 6 6pm
Pick 7 8pm
Tuesday:
etc. etc.
Just a thought. If someone couldn't make the time, broadway would accept PMs with their "best available" and post on their behalf.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome our new General Manager.... Former New England Patriots defensive backs coach Josh Boyer!
Thank you, thank you.
Thank you Dan. First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Synder, and the entire Washington Iriquois Nationals organization, for extending to me the opportunity to help lead this organization. I am excited to be part of the future of this club, and I am confident that together we can make some serious noise in the National Football league.
HTTR baby!
In stunning news today, new Iriquois Nationals General Manager Josh Boyer has indicated that Robert Griffin III will not be handed the starting position this fall. He will be expected to beat out fellow 3rd year quarterback Kirk Cousins. Cousins, the former Michigan State star, has looked extremely promising throughout his first two seasons.
Ok, lets get this going.
So, interested to know what people thought of my RGIII trade.
My thinking:
I see the Titans as being an elite QB away from being in a strong position to win that division on a regular basis. The Colts have a great QB but aren't consistently great yet as a team. The Jaguars are the Jaguars, albeit better with Bridgewater and the Texans could be fading.
So my #1 priority for the titans was to try and get an elite QB, something I don't think Jake Locker is. I tried early on to get Ben Roethlisberger but Fester and I couldn't agree on value and I gave up on the idea.
I then decided my next best strategy was to significantly improve an already good defence and I started negotiating a trade with Raiders so that I could move up ahead of the Giants and draft Ra'shede Hageman who's athleticism puts him in the potentially elite category as far as I'm concerned.
But just as Stelfans and I were agreeing to the trade, the opportunity to trade for RGIII came about and I didn't want to miss out.
So thoughts?
I actually like the trade for both sides. If I was in charge of the Redskins I would have made the same move, trade RG3 and build around Kirk Cousins, who I think will be better long term. The only thing I don't like from the Redskins perspective is the value, I think he could have gotten more. Considering what they gave up to get RG3 and the hype surrounding him since, I would have looked for another premium pick, maybe a 2016 1st rounder as well. Overall though I think its puts them in a better position because they now have at least some resources to build with.
From your perspective manx, I like it too. I agree the Titans could be a QB away from being a perennial contended, and while I don't think RG3 is an elite QB, I certainly think he is better than anyone else available at that point (really after Bridgewater was taken). I also thought the value was pretty good from your end. Overall I love these bold moves, great job guys.
-Owen Daniels has been traded to San Diego (fester) for a 2014 5th round pick and a conditional 2015 pick that will either be a 5th or 7th, depending if he is on the roster in 2015.
Well, considering that the Draft happens a few months before final Rosters are determined, I'd like to offer you my entire 2014 Draft ~ all Picks!! ~ for your Crystal Ball.
I'm fairly certain that with a Bust Rate of 0% thenceforward, it'll pay for itself rather quickly.
