I'm still curious as to why the Iggles were basically giving away a player that they picked up this offsesaon and was supposed to have a big role in their new defense.

Also I hope this move doesn't stunt the growth of Chris Jones whose snaps will diminish since I assume Kelly and Sopoaga will be the starters.

Reports are he was actually a bad fit for their 3-4 defense. With the Pats running primarily a 4-3, he should be able to be fill a role in the run downs.

Nine minutes until BB elects for Dobson the rest of the season. I'm honestly surprised, but pleasantly surprised he believes in him.

Dobson has been getting open. Brady has missed him. What is a new receiver supposed to do? Miraculously heal whatever ailment is causing Brady to be inaccurate?

I don't know the full details of his contract but 3m plus per year over next two years is quite high. Don't know if he's cuttable or not after this year.

I'd have to imagine that there's an out in there somewhere. I doubt Belichick would have taken on the pact for 3.75 million, unless he's that desperate and/or it's a possibility that Wilfork doesn't return (hate to even bring it up).

That doesn't make a lot of sense. He worked out fairly well in the Niners 3-4 for a very long time though they are infinitely better than Philly's defense.

Better talent around him, much like he'll have here (not calling us the 9ers but infinitely better than Eagles).

I think the odds of an outsider coming in at mid-season at the 2nd hardest position to learn was monumentally slim myself.

I didn't see how it would be any good to add yet another "new" guy trying to learn the system. That may have paid off for next year, but wouldn't have done any good for this year.

Poor Brady under that scenario....trying to babysit Dobson, Thompkins, Collie, Amendola, and then whatever new receiver we'd add. I thought it had about a 1% chance of happening myself.

Essentially, they just traded peanuts for a good run stuffer which exactly is what the defense was sorely lacking in. Thanks, Chip & Howie!

The organization owed us dearly for the Ellis Hobbs III deal still, and that is putting it mildly.

It's to bad we didn't inquire about the availability of Brent Celek or James Casey while wheeling and dealing with Philly.

I think they run two different 3-4 defenses. Not all 3-4 defenses are the same.

He sucked in Philly.

Love it, they shored up their run defense and the rest of their defense is in great shape. A receiver would have been nice but i have alot of confidence they can get the offense going in the second half regardless. As shaky as the first half of this season has been i really like this team and think they can make a run at it in the play-offs.

That contract is kinda steep though...

Are the Pats and Eagles the only teams that traded? Any other trades worthy of news around the league?

Yeah, Patriots fax machine actually worked and got ok on the Gonzales trade at 3:59 (59) deal to be announced soon. ;)
