The Official Patriots vs Jets POST Game Thread

Another fine example by you of how you don't know this team or Brady.

If Brady is steamed at someone other than himself, he would be speaking to someone other than himself.

That was his reaction on his throw to Dobson on the right sideline that he threw short and was broken up.

That was Brady's response after watching the replay.

Thanks for playing (again).

AH...

Good eyes..

It was dirty. Fact.

Hopefully the league fine him and the scumbags that were ejected.

Ah yes, because someone who gets published on a website says something, it must immediately be accepted as correct and truthful.

From what I saw, it looked like Talib was in bounds when Mangold went to make his tackle and that the reason Talib got hit low like that is that he moved.

Interception...40 seconds left...Jets ZERO TO's...GAME OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....not ONE reason why Mangold should do ANYTHING..yet YOU are going to argue what YOU SEE with your own two eyes??? I was THERE...in REAL TIME...everyone saw what he did and everyone KNOWS what a piece of shyt he is. ...PERIOD

yeah judge...I only meant to shoot him in the leg but he BENT DOWN...not my fault I shot him ion the head..

ridiculous rationalization...THAT was dirty...period...no argument...you want to continue then have a good night you're obviously trolling

Of course Joker - he is Demos. He is not a Patriots fan and he will do anything to argue against reality.

He mos def said "F' he was wide open". I thought he might screaming at Ridley to pick up the block..

Who knows tho, funny gif, lot's going on in it..

Right, but saying "F' he was wide open" doesn't mean that Brady was pissed at himself about the play. Could be that the "wide open" receiver was supposed to turn and sit, but instead he did something else.

Actually, yeah, I'd argue that watching the play in slow motion gives you a better idea than being there and seeing it "in real time".

It was a bang bang play. Even the GIF that was posted distorts things as it doesn't show when Mangold started his dive.

Everyone - repeat after me:

Demos is right. I am wrong.

Actually, when they showed the full clip of it on NFLN, it looks like he's talking to Edelman and not to himself.

It was clearly a late hit.

It was clearly a late hit.

It ended up being a late hit and it also ended up being a hit in the back of the leg around the knee.

What I'm talking about is the "intent", which isn't necessarily the same as the end result.

Some here are taking the position that Talib was standing there well out of bounds with his back to Mangold and Mangold purposely dove at his knee.

No, just taking different things into account. Mangold is around 300 lbs and he's not what you'd call "fleet of foot". He sees Talib in bounds and goes to make a tackle. He launches at Talib's waist/thigh, Talib steps away and Mangold's momentum carries him forward. Gravity comes into play and the end result is Mangold hitting Talib in the back of the knee while out of bounds.

By the time Mangold launched, Talib was irrevocably moving out of bounds. Tacklers are required to have better self control/body control than that.

Wait, what. People are actually trying to say that mangold hit on talib was not dirty?

This hit..

Come on, that was dirty.

You're embarrassing yourself on this one. Mangold clearly, and deliberately, targeted Talib's knees, and Talib was clearly jumping out of bounds before Mangold made his dive. Mangold's shot was cheap, and it could have ended Talib's season.

Needless to say, I disagree on both parts wrt intent.

You're disagreement is noted, but it's irrelevant. The tape is clear in this instance.

As I said, you're embarrassing yourself on this one. Frankly, I'd thought better of you than this. This is JI level denial you're tossing out.

JI level of denial ? Let's look at the tape (animated .gif) and break it down. Remember that we are talking about a "split second play".

Talib is still in bounds here. Notice Mangold's hands.

11.gif

Talib is still in bounds here as well. Notice how Mangold's hands have come up. This is where he's starting his tackle.

12.gif

Talib is still in bounds. You can clearly see that Mangold is trying to tackle him. Notice that Mangold's head is ABOVE Talib's waist.

13.gif

Here is where Talib starts to step away from Mangold and goes towards the boundary. Again, notice how high up Mangold is in relation to Talib's thighs and waist. Also notice the "lean" in Mangold's body.

Here, Talib is just out of bounds, but again, note how high up Mangold is in relation to Talib's knees, thighs and waist.

In short, it looks to me like Mangold launched himself at Talib's thighs. Talib moved away from Mangold (and also turned his body away as well). The result of this is that Mangold ended up coming down on the back of Talib's legs at the knee, instead of hitting him in the thighs.

This team is in for some rough weeks ahead. The good news is we are 2-0, which means we won't need to panic for a few games at least. Hopefully it gets better quickly though.

looks like Fatgold lowered his upper body and helmet into Talib's knee area to me.
