The Official Patriots vs Jets POST Game Thread

Brady is very talented but he shows no leadership skills at all.

Did I just read this? Or am I so tired yet so full of beer and adrenaline that I am beginning to hallucinate.

Let's give Brady the benefit of the doubt.

How do you know they haven't ran certain routes in practice now for weeks at a time?

I'm actually glad he's a fiery leader. It may be the difference between a wasted season of growing pains and going deep into the playoffs.

In no way is what he did leadership. None. Can you imagine working with someone like that who screams and screams? He only sits with Josh and pouts. That is not leadership. Leadership is getting the offense around you to talk about what you do next. Stop ball washing. Time for Tommy to grow up.

52 weeks ago, the Patriots were coming off against a loss to the Cardinals, and would lose to the Ravens the next week. Does anybody prefer where they were then to where they are now?

Brady is learning how to deal with rookie receivers as much as the rookie receivers are learning how to deal with him. Both sides are having a rough time right now.

I know it's not like they had all the playbook to work on, but I thought some plays incredible bad playcalling from McDaniels.

That pass to Ridley right before the 2 minute warning, I almost had a heart attack, the guy struggling a lot, insecure, having fumble problems, raining, the ball wet, and WTF was that?

Also that long pass to Dobson in a 3rd down, 4th quarter, almost got picked, Dobson couldn't catch a 10 yard pass, how was he going to catch that ?

They just count on Jets lack of efficience to bring this victory to home, any other team and we would be 1-1 by now.

But we all knew that we would have to deal with this learning curve, so if we are in the middle of it, and 2-0, that's a good thing.

His body language and attitude is also effecting the way he plays. He missed on a few of those passes, including two sure touchdowns. So it's not just about disciplining the rookies.

Good comedy, but not really accurate. He'll settle down now, because he's gone through the "Ok, it was one game. Wait, what the hell is this crap happening again for?" stage, and he'll now be more stoic moving forward. But enough with the missed TDs crap.

Game Day is different to practise. I'm not sure why you're assuming Brady doesn't coach these guys up during the week only to see them more than likely make and repeat critical mistakes during the game.

I don't blame Brady for being upset given the amount of drops and obviously poor routes the rookies ran. They also have a right to be annoyed given some of the open throws Brady missed.

Yes, by a country mile. The team was coming off a Super Bowl appearance.

I couldn’t disagree more. He is a papered diva. Can you imagine working with someone like him on a team? The only person sitting with him was Josh. He needs to shut the hell up with his little drama queen act and try and lead. Destroying these kids is a great way to make sure they never amount to anything. I saw the Jets offense huddled around talking about what they were going to do and Geno showing more leadership. Brady is very talented but he shows no leadership skills at all.

You're obviously very emotional yourself tonight.

Claiming that TFB doesn't show leadership skills at all is quite possibly the craziest thing I've ever heard on this forum...ever.

It was b/c of Brady that they won last week, and the success of the team in general has been built around Brady's leadership for yrs.

We have no idea how many times they've practiced those plays throughout the past couple of months/this week/whatever. Idiotic mistakes aren't going to be tolerated on this team. It's one of the reasons why we've remained so successful.

Why is Ghotkowski getting a pass?

Wow, the was dirty as hell..

I'll give Mangold the benefit of the doubt as I've never heard of any claims that he's prone to dirty or cheap shots.

I know alot a Pats fans are going to ***** and moan about the the O. But F that, how about our D!!!!

Being a fiery leader and showing up the kids constantly in front of the whole world are two different things. As troy brown just said. You wont treat your own kids like that. They kids and he is 13 yr vet and if he loses control and shows up people like this , they arent going to get any better. Again as troy said, BB handled it great after the game, waved to the crowd, was chipper in the presser about teams attitude etc.
I know everyone has a different personality but Iam not a big fan of constantly showing up your co workers. And the the EZ play where edelman ran a wrong route, he scremed at at him leaving the field and then watched the replay and again screamed at him. not really a high point of his game .No sense of encouragement for thompkins after his tough non catch either. And he admitted it in the post game.

and did ya like the announcers talking about teams starting 0-2 having little chance to make the post season? The 0-2 2001 Pats come to mind.

Not everyone thinks a participation trophy and an "attaboy, everyone's a winner!" is the way to go. Belichick called him something like "the best leader I've ever seen".

I don't disagree but that does not make him a leader. I know folks here are upset by what I am saying but it is true. Michael Irvin really spelled it out on the NFL network post game. This is no way to develop receivers, crushing them they way he does.

They won and the defense seemed quite happy. Once upon a time that would have been great.

I can think of a certain "draftnik" off the top of my head who guaranteed all summer that he'd be cut despite getting the most starting reps opposite of DMcC throughout camp.

I have always liked him as a rotational safety, more in the fold of a #3 instead of a #2, but never wanted him gone. That may change next year however when his cap number is increased and/or one of Harmon or Wilson step up.

I agree with all your analysis.

Sure, would have liked us to find a top starting SS and have had Gregory as our #3.

I have agreed with you and have expected Gregory to be gone next year. My expectation, as of now, is that Wilson is a perennial special teamer )and a good one). We good do worse than keeping Gregory and Harmon for next year and into the future.

Well said. I expect improvement on all fronts. Great prep for Brady child raising.

If Ridley doesn't bobble the ball, this isn't a problem. The Patriots have enough to worry about with the limited passing game. If the Patriots now have to cut out running plays without direct handoffs, they might as well pack it up for the year.
