Tim Tebow cut

Thats rich when you consider a 1 trick pony like Slater. Evidently you didnt watch Tebow win in Denver. The Jets never gave him a chance to get into a rhythm.

Is he a franchise QB? No, of course not, but he could help this team win in a H back role.
H Backs need to be able to catch the ball. Tebow hasn't shown that ability. That's not to say he can't, but it's not worth giving a roster spot to a player that doesn't have a fit or a clearly defined role. Even the 53rd player on the roster should have a clearly defined role, even if it's on Special Teams.

I doubt he comes here. For one thing, we don't have much need for him at ANY position right now.

We'd have to ask ourselves exactly "where" we see him as a potential fit, and I just don't see a need at H-back/fullback etc--at least not for the attention that it'd bring with it for a small grouping of plays anyway. We've seen a lack of plays from McDaniels' attempt at using a fullback, and Fiametta was recently cut. There is already an argument that we may have too many bigger bruising type, short yardage backs as it is with both Bolden and Blount, so I'm not seeing much use for a FB/bigger RB type role. That's even assuming that Belichick would feel that he could learn enough of the offense to contribute in the first place, which is also possibly under question.

TE? Is there room on the team for him as a TE? I don't personally believe so, especially if we consider the possibility of Daniel Fells being more injured than anyone expected last season and any possibility of improvement from Fells in year two. We already have 5 TE's in Gronk, Hernandez, Fells, Ballard, and Hooman. There are probably some other(s) that will be used as camp fodder, although Brad Herman was recently cut. Either way, there's probably not much of a need for another TE.

ST play? I don't see it. I don't see much reasoning in bringing him on for a punt protector role (or whatever the hell the NYJ were doing). Aside from the stupidity of bringing him here just for a small role like "personal punt protector," Belichick has plenty of other players to offer the kind of LB/ST only type wedge blocker role as it is, which would be the only other ST need.

The problem with Tebow is his redonkulously long wind up to delivery. It affects his short and medium throws accuracy which is not NFL worthy. What it does give him is a very accurate and well thrown deep ball which funny enough is one of the few things Brady has trouble with. So I could see a role where he gets 30 to 40 snaps over the course of the year, mostly draws and the such to set up the defense to forget that he can chuck the ball 60 yards in the air. Then you could possible get 3 or 4 60 yard TD's out of him, maybe some goalline work. Worth a roster spot and the potential media distraction? meh I think I will pass. I like Tebow just don't see him adding anything to this roster.

Returning kicks, or as an up back? Pistol QB on scout team? "Personal Punt Protector?" (I guess full back on punts was beyond Rex Ryan - just sayin')

I'd say, "No," but if they signed him based on some weird reason I would not question it.

Tebow would be an idiot to sign with the Patriots, even if the Patriots wanted him.

The team Tebow signs with should have one of the following characteristics:
1. A bottom 10 starting qb who is not in his first two years -- someone that Tebow can easily beat out. If the qb is in the top 10-20 range, then you run into a Sanchez situation where the coach may be afraid to play tebow in fear tha tif he succeeds it'll be a tough call
2. A rushing qb who is injury prone. Redskins or Philly. They could use a Tebow as a backup or to give their starter a break without much change in their offense.

The Patriots signing Tim Tebow would take that dark black cloud of poison created by Rex and Sanchez last season and place it right over Tom Brady's head.

It wouldn't matter if we signed him and Belichick himself immediately took to the stage and said "Tebow will NEVER be a quarterback here and that's not why we signed him."

Tebow is a media **** storm no matter where he is.

We're looking for a new Dynasty. Brady wants to be able to flash four fingers with Montana and Bradshaw. Belichick wants to rename his boat.

Don't need that kind of distraction here.

I have nothing against Tebow and hope he gets signed.

Just somewhere else.

if this a person you want taking snaps over anyone on our roster on offense?

That was an impossible pass to catch. As soon as he turned his head the ball was hitting the top of his helmet.

I'd like to see him go to one of the other AFCE teams, just so he could do something against the Jets. That could be fun.

What?

The ball is only just in view when he starts to turn his head, that's a catch you'd expect any receiver to make

Maybe if they bring Tebow on, combined with all the ex-Rams here, we can recreate the tremendous success that McDaniels had while he was in St Louis and in Denver

As soon as he turned his head the ball was hitting the top of his helmet.

Which is exactly what he did wrong. He turned his head to the right to look at the defender as he was making his cut to the left. That brought his head around late, and left his hands down where he couldn't catch the ball.

Everything he did there was bad technique. There are dozens and dozens of guys available with more athletic ability and technical receiving skill. Why focus on this one? Why consider him over them?

Exactly. They need to ask themselves if Tebow is better than the alternative guy whose spot on the 53 he would be taking.

Given he has demonstrated no skill in being a TE, FB, or really anything, then I guess the answer is no.

He should play for the saints, we've had worse quarterbacks. Compared to Heath Shulers 2 TD 14 INT average , we would be wondering why he wasn't considered for the pro bowl at the end of the season.

Tebow should have played for the Jags last year. He should play for the Jags this year.

This times a million. The fact they won't sign Tebow is proof of just what a disaster that franchise is.

He's a hero there. Even if they absolutely sucked (and they probably will!,) ticket sales would be guaranteed. And that matters the most, even though people hate that fact.

Moreover, they'd win more games too.

Win-win. And they're passing on him because they don't want to be a joke. Yet they've already arrived at the destination.

It's not a win-win situation. The Jags are a developing team. Playing Tim Tebow at Quarterback will only ****** the development of their young receivers for a year. Have a look at the Broncos WR's with Manning. They run far crisper routes with Manning at the position opposed to the hit or miss approach Tebow takes before ultimately scrambling. Chad Henne is a better QB than Tim Tebow and Blaine Gabbert looks a lost cause. Hero or not, I simply don't see the point of adding Tebow to the Jags outside of college heroism.

Tebow is a marketing product. Like most fads, they disappear as quickly as they appear.

Football is a business. The jags are the second worst team in the league with such bad attendance that they should consider moving if there is no improvement in attendance. Having a QB corps of Henne and Tebow would help not hut development.

Whilst I agree with your general sentiment, there is an approximate difference of 12% in their completion percentages. Tebow is no answer and the decision to invest in Gabbert was just as stupid then as it is now.

Having Henne and Tebow compete for reps can only better the jags.

No, it can't and you have no solid basis to make such a comment. Tebow is a below average Quarterback. It is nonsensical to downgrade from average to below average.
