Re: fans soDan Shaumething to post about ...UGH

Am I cluelessly missing the sarcasm here? Cause yeah, I do think there is no bigger agenda at work.

It takes a heck of a conspiracy theory to say that a newspaper is scheming to undermine a local sports team by running POSITIVE articles about them. Or by using a nickname for the team's owner that links him to a seminal figure in football history. (What's next, Bill "Lombardi" Belichick? The horrors!)

With all due respect, Patchick, in regards to your initial question: Yes.

1) You think that was a POSITIVE article about the lucky Patriots having everything go their way????????

2) And btw, CHB started derisively calling Kraft "Amos Alonzo Kraft" 14 years ago (pre-SB wins) when he personally timed Tebucky Jones in tryouts with a stop watch. He has never meant that as a compliment, Patchick.

Time for reading this with eyes open:

"What happened at Reliant Field Saturday was consistent with the history of the Bill Belichick Patriots ever since Walt Coleman invoked the tuck rule on that snowy Saturday in Foxborough 11 years ago. The Patriots are very good, but they are also amazingly lucky. Whatever they need to have happen, happens. Things fall into place. The Patriots always get what they want."

I'm sorry, Patchick, but if more people read that and say "Oh, what a nice complimentary story about the Patriots", then it is all over. Anything can be pulled over the reader's eyes. He gets away with it because too much of the readerships allows him to.

The only reason Shaughnessy is doing this is to come out and slam the Pats if they lose to the Texans. This guy gets off on stuff like that.

Bingo.

Can't really slam a team when you think they will lose. Two years ago when there was a rain delay when he was on TV and said the red sox would be in because there was no way the rays were gonna come back and beat the yankees. The smirk on his face when he said it pretty much said I hope the opposite happens. Guy definitely gets off on this stuff.

I remember him calling last year's team a mirage and saying they would be one and done

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that CHB is actually a sincere Patriots fan. Obviously not. I'm arguing against the conspiracy theory that turns his stupid column into a carefully orchestrated move in a vast corporate-level conspiracy against the Patriots organization.

Sometimes a blowhard is just a blowhard.

...along with the convicted felon Massachusetts Speaker of the House

Description is redundant. The term Massahcusetts Speaker of the house implies convicted felon without further modification.

You are really giving this guy the benefit of the doubt. You know more about launching space ships than Shaughnessy knows about football (if you are in fact a rocket scientist I reserve the right to change my analogy). :D

I'm the one here who knows about launching space ships.
Wearing my JPL Rocket Scientist tee shirt right now in fact.

Now back to trashing the CHB

If he called him "Amos Alonzo Kraft", that sounds like a compliment.

A lot of sturm and drang over nothing. No one will care what some guy says.

Educate yourself on the context in which he calls him that.

It's in black in white for you in the middle of post #41 in this thread.

Next time someone calls Sanchez, "Marky Unitas", you take that as a compliment, alright?

Shaughnessy pisses on the readership because they let him.

I click Reiss/Yates/Rodak, Matt Chatham, Curran et al. I google around or go to blogs that copy the articles of Shaughnessy and other Globe writers so as not to give them the clicks. Money makes the world go round and is the ONLY reason Shaughnessy writes his untruths. His bosses have the agenda. He just wants the money.

I didn't know that. Now THAT is cool!

Not I. I just diagnose, treat and prevent neuromusculoskeletal disorders. :p

I've never liked or enjoyed the scribblings of this particular newspaper employee but your bully tactics are not much better frankly.

If anyone wants to know what Harpo Marx wrote please use the link Ray Clay provided.

Ehh haa haa Classic. I've always known Shannessy (sp) reminded me of someone specific but could never put my finger on who. It forever irked me. Finally, there's the correlation. You nailed it.

But the question remains...
Why would any grown man choose that disastrous hairdo for himself??? And for a public figure no less?
Does he have no friends that are gonna take him aside, a-la Seinfeld's Kramer, and enlighten him as to how laughably effeminate & childish his hairdo is?

It's gotta wreak havoc in his personal life. What self-respecting woman would ever get down with that? What man would allow himself to be seen in public hanging with that clueless fashion disaster?

Then even more reason for his article to be a non-issue.

He's in the Globe and read by over 500,000 people daily.

You can close your eyes and yell "la-la-la" all you want.

Re: Texans' Arian Foster uses Dan Shaughnessy column for Twitter avatar

It would be significant if Shaughnessy actually played for the Patriots, or had a clue about professional football.

Dan Shaughnessy has never been a beat writer for any football team. He's got legitimacy as a baseball writer (and Hall of Fame voter) but is not anybody's go-to guy for news on the Patriots or the NFL.

If Arian Foster needs a Shaughnessy column to get himself and his teammates jacked up for this game, the Texans have some motivational problems. This sort of thing could actually backfire on Foster - it puts even more pressure on Matt Schaub not to screw up this game.

Can you imagine anybody for the Patriots using a column from the Houston paper to play the disrespect card?

Foster can do what he wants. He didn't show up last time, and now he's relying on an article from the globe to give him motivation. How man of him.

Yup. Dumb column, dumb response by Foster.
