Chad Ochocinco ‏ @ochocinco
The same reason i did my rookie year, once i knew the system it was curtains RT @Se7en_30: in all honesty, why did you struggle this season?

Chad Ochocinco ‏ @ochocinco
I'll whoop all their asses right now RT @BeevLeeJay: @ochocinco how do you feel bout the over abundance of receivers the #patriots picked up

yeah this may not be news ordinarily but the forums have slowed to all time low... Chad's certainly talking the talk i hope he can bring it to the field. Are we thinking this is just a guy running his mouth or a guy who can do the business?

IMO he'd be gone after the Branch signing if he didn't restructure. It's good that he's passionate but he's really got to crack down and pick it up now. A Chad Johnson that's on the same wavelength as Brady would add a terrifying dimension to an already potent offense.

I'm speaking for myself, but...

I really don't mind it. I even find it slightly promising. The guy fully admits that he didn't grasp the system. Most players wouldn't own up to it. He did. That's the biggest problem right there.

Before this thread dies Ochocinco will be as hyped as he was last season. Don't buy it. He has to prove it on the field, not twitter.

If he makes the final 53 roster....I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised.

It means BB & Brady think he's better than a few other WR's that are currently signed.

Well...it's good that he atleast has some confidence left after last season.

He wouldn't have restructured unless he intended to be sticking around, so it makes sense that he thinks he can still be productive.

That's what I took from it, too. Everyone knew he stunk last year, including him. Publicly owning up to it says a lot about his commitment.

I think he's going to have a good year.

He's running his mouth. He's currently filming his reality show set to air this summer. My guess is that he's doing some pre recruiting for that hot mess of a tv show. He may be slow to learn the Patriots system, but he's a social media genius/whore.
sigh...still, how some of you can actually think that Chad will be any better than last year blows my mind. AND, you are comparing a rookie year to a man....how old is he now? C'mon people. Chad, Donte, Tiquan and Gonazles will be fighting for that last WR spot. My money is on Donte. Chad will be told to hit the streets. I could see him in black and silver.

Someone should tell him, he doesn't have to tell his Twitter followers he's going to "whoop all the other WRs asses right now", but to prove it to BB on training camp. And that BB doesn't have Twitter or "MyFace", so all that talk is useless and he should be studying the playbook instead.

Not sure about his WR skills right now , but he did a pretty good job at acting- in the opening scene of the new American Pie movie ;)

I'm fully expecting him to make the 53 man roster, BT.

Especially after watching the recent workout that was posted a week or so ago.

He has some great talent still, there's no doubt about it. I don't think there ever was.

Belichick is not stupid. He obviously realizes that there is potential there.

I am actually even expecting him as our WR3, behind Llyod and Welker.

Time will tell if the benefit of a full offseason and an understanding of the plays/scheme can parlay his talents into some type of production or not.

The bar wasn't exactly set too high.

In my opinion, he gets a pass for the first yr. By all accts, his work ethic and attitude have never been questioned. He has had the support of his coach and teammates. I am going to give him my share of the fanbase's support personally.

There's a difference between a malcontent, someone with little or no talent left, and someone like Chad Johnson--who was struggling to learn a complicated system and owned up to it.

Agree. And none of us have any real insight into whether he'll make the team or have a good year. Let's just wait and see, and hope for the best.

So people believing that a guy will improve with 7 more months to learn the system blows your mind?

I don't know if Chad will win a roster spot, but if he grasps the offense, he'll have a helluva shot.

The positive thing for mine is that he couldn't possibly play worse in 2012 than he did in 2011. That's a bonus already.

Why do so many patsfans posters seem to think that posting on twitter/facebook is this huge time commitment?

************, you're talking about a 30 second tweet from a cell phone while waiting to be seated at a restaurant or sitting on the crapper.

The only thing to take away from all of this is that the guy's heart is in the right place. That's why he's still with this team and that's why the team wants him to succeed. If it doesn't pan out then it wasn't meant to be but you cannot fault the guy's effort or willingness to take a pay cut.

Which is why I think the people who seem so venomous towards Ochocinco are meanspirited.

I've taken a lot of craps. Not once did I think, "Hey, this would be a good time to send a text message." ;)
