Good, I was begging for someone to bring that up. If you watched the finale against the giants, you would remember that the pats were fighting to win that game until very late. The passes that got Moss and Brady their records were made in the course of trying to get the team the win. The only "stat" that the pats cared about was the team goal of going undefeated.

Go back to the Miami game though. Brady did try to get the record that game in 4th with a 28 point lead.

Pats had locked up the #1 seed already. Closest AFC team was 12-3. 16-0 is as much of a stat as 50TD passes.

NE didn't have to play that game at all.

I'm pretty sure that the second Miami game, as all of the last 6 or so down the stretch were relatively tight games.

our guys go for records if there's an opportunity just like everyone else, Brady's accidental lateral to Gronk to get 14 TD's, just 1 example

I'm glad that game was still competitive at that point... but it doesn't change the fact that they were aware of it and were gonna try to get it. I'm glad it wasn't forced like tonight's performance by Brees. Congrats though to Brees! :D

If I'm Atlanta playing them in the 1st round, that's a strong motivator. Not sure if they have the talent to beat them, but it will pump them up more.

Can't believe how they chose to do that.

No it was 28-0 at one point and Brady was just throwing bombs and forcing the ball to break the record at home that game

If we were crushing the Giants 40-0 in that game we would've went for it to make it 47-0.

I missed the record breaking through tonight, forced:confused:

congrats to your man Brees Pherein, I missed it lol
thanks, robbomango he works so hard, means a lot to our fans . He'll never be a Brady or Montana, but we are so proud of him. Thanks :)

You just made the case for Brees. He attempted 20 more passes and completed 55 more. So Brees performance was better. Plus ESPN just put up a stat showing Marinos avg per game in 1984 was 90 yards better than the leagues avg. Brees was 98.
Actually I didn't at all. I think Brees is a fantastic footballer and his new record is a fine accomplishment. However, Darren Sproles had 79 receptions for 659 yards through 15 games. Brees to Sproles is not downfield passing attempts.

By no means am I attempting to denigrate Brees, but I realize what it is. Kudos and congratulations none the less. It's a fantastic accomplishment, one which I recognize and will celebrate.

Lmao at all the Brees/Saints hate. You see his speech in the locker room? Guy is nothing but a class act. He isn't like Rodgers, throwing 2 yard slants in the red zone and never running it.

The Falcons had the opportunity to stop him and couldn't.

This post is ridiculous. Brees is exactly like Rodgers. The saints were up by multiple touchdowns with less than 5 to play in the 4th and they went shotgun pass every time inside the 20 yard line. Holy hell, what game were you watching?

neither brees nor rogers deserve haters

haters are just mad at others success

haters = absolute garbage

wtg brees!

i may have said some anti brees stuff over some ******ed heated comment he made when leaving sd but he is a good guy. i personally don't think he's ever going to be placed over brady but good for him.

and yes he throws a million passes lol but who cares he's elite

It shouldn't surprise anyone that three of the four best records belong to teams with the three best Quarterbacks at present. All three are magnificent footballers and leaders of their teams. It's been an amazing season to watch.

The Saints are not good in short yardage, neither are the Packers. They throw on the 2 yard line because that's their best chance to score! Remember week 1 when the Saints could've tied the game and got stuffed from inside the one, their best play in the red zone is on Brees's arm. Why WOULDN'T they throw?

it really has and we all realize the rules have been slanted to help offenses score more than in the past, but despite playing mostly in domes, brees has to get credit for the numbers he has put up with his height disadvantage.

if i had to rank current qbs on body of work

i gotta go brady 1
rogers 2
but i think now id put brees 3rd over ben

i do believe ben and rogers have been more hamstrung in their careers due to their pass protection, but in bens case he's had the better defense behind him as well so yeah i think brees moves ahead, but its a tough call due to how clutch ben's been several times

either way, we're just talking about great qbs

oh and not to forget peyton but its really hard for me to rank him definitely top 5 when healthy

exactly, do what works

simple concept
