Nope, Tim Tebow can't play in the NFL

He is a horrible passer and always will be.He was simply awful tonight for 55 minutes. This kind of inconsistency will not fly in the long run.

He is no franchise quarterback.

In the past 2 seasons, the Broncos are 9-17. With Tebow as the team's starter, the Broncos are 5-3. Without Tebow as the team's starter, they are 4-14.

You can belittle him all you want. The facts are there. The kid's winning

Tim Tebow might be 5-13 when he has an 18 game sample size as a starter. You're comparing an 8 game set vs an 18 game set. Kind of lopsided.

Tebow is a bad quarterback. He's a decent football player, and I will admit that he is a winner this season, can't deny that. But it isn't because of his quarterbacking skills. I'd say it has more to do with his character and determination. If the team rallied around Orton like they do for Tebow they'd be better off, especially with that defense.

Won't be the first running QB to look great for a while. Hell, we got to see the great Joe Kapp here in New England.

That's irrelevant to my point. I'm talking about where he's at now. Right now, he's a QB who's taking a team that plays .222 ball and has them playing .625 ball, because he's finding a way to get his team wins. The people bagging on the kid are just being idiots.

Sounds familiar........ I remember lots of comments similar to the following, in 2001:

"Tom Brady is just a game manager. If the team played as well around Bledsoe as they do around Brady, the team would be better off."

Please tell me you didn't just do that...

Oh, I just did that.... It's not a claim that Tebow is Brady. It's a demonstration that people are being both premature and hypocritical.

Sorry, but apart from the position they were put into, there are no similarities. Brady completing 20% more of his passes and having more yards passing (in his first season starting) than Tebow's total yards through both seasons with 2 less total touchdowns.

New England didn't win in spite of Brady's play, Denver is getting lucky to be in these games with how Tebow leads the offense for 55 minutes each week. If it wasn't for those miracle drives where everything comes together for just a few minutes Tebow would be benched. He's a good player but he doesn't belong under center for every snap of the game.

edit: Kyle Orton also isn't Drew Bledsoe, but he is a better quarterback than Tim Tebow.

Keep telling yourself that.

Some Brady passing yardage totals from 2001:

46
86
107
108

.... and those "miracle drives" count. Tebow may flame out, starting with the very next game he plays, but, to this point, he's getting the job done and getting his team wins, and he's doing it as a "project" with half a season of starts under his belt.

In spite of this current 'miracle run,' the scouts and naysayers are being proven right actually--the guy cannot throw a pass to save his life.

First time I've really watched him since college and I was shocked at how bad he is as a passer. But most telling are his mechanics, which haven't changed since he was at Florida, suggesting he is incapable of becoming anything resembling a good passer in the NFL (just as most NFL scouts have always said).

I'm not discounting that he seems to have a mythical aura right now, but absent divine intervention [seriously], or the Broncos somehow making the option viable again in today's NFL  this is a total flash in the pan and Broncos fans are delusional that he is their long-term answer at QB.

Wow with all the chaos at jets insider tonight I am absolutely shocked that the funniest and most ridiculous thing i read is on pats fans...

I get your point, but it's just funny to read the words now looking back....

The kid looks awful for long stretches of the game. In the end, though, he's winning. Hell, he almost brought his team back in that Chargers game. If Lloyd hadn't dropped that 2-point conversion, that game would have gone to overtime, and we don't know what would have happened at that point. It's possible that the Broncos would be 6-4 after tonight's game.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to bag on the kid for getting his team in that position, considering where they were coming from.

Tebow : not a great passer. But who cares ? He's winning !

Doesn't matter if you don't think his opponents are that good because Denver hasn't been beating them recently... 4-1. Only stats that count.

From the jets forum. Pretty hilarious.

There's no way the Jests can defend Sanchez...he is just plain awful.

if they would have started Tebow from day one denver would be #1 in the AFC west i still think they could win it and make the playoffs

I'm watching Tim Tebow with as much zest as I did the Wildcat formation in Miami. Teams will cotton on to the option, for now it's a nice story.

yeah it's a gimmick, but damn, he's really so amazing in the 4th qtrs of games

it's really uncanny

like the perfect 2 minute drill type of player

as long as he's winning games, i can't begrudge him

Before we put him in Canton, lets watch him win a few games against "real" teams. You know, teams that might actually defend the run in the final minute against a QB that can't complete a forward pass.

So same for us, right?

Tom Brady only defeated Jets, Dolphins and stuff like that.

Tebow has the hart, attitude and work ethic that define what the Patriots are all about. there's no way a kid like this doesn't make it in the nfl.

Such a contrast from players like Vick that spend 8 minutes whining to the press about not getting flags thrown his way. I'm sure BB would take Tebow over half the overrated slouches posing as top tear players in this league.

Tebow time couldn't have arrived at a better time than it did tonight:D

Yes.......facts........Three yard passes in 2001 by TB......or QB scrambles in 2011 by Tesus. Getting the job done....that's the point isn't it? Why do you guys get so riled up by Hand of God? I for one enjoy seeing something different in the NFL. These 40 passes/game shootouts are getting old. Only one team wins the SuperBowl....and too many label the other 31 crap. Not me. It's entertainment, show me something fresh and new. And give Fox a chance. He retooled the Broncos only 5 games ago, dumping there best WR, playing with injured RBs. That 1st Denver O drive was great....shovel passes, Tebow chuckin it. I'll watch a Denver game now, ahead of about 20 teams because I may see the unexpected.

Does anyone remember John Elway when he first came into the league? He would play like crap for 3 quarters and come alive in the 4th and get his team the win. His stats were not great - like a 50% passer - but he got the job done.

Now, in no way shape or form am I saying that Tebow is Elway reborn but he is not as bad as you think. This league is all about winning and if Tebow does that, he may stick around.
