ANALYSIS: One week after the Patriots had three receivers atop their snaps chart, this was an example of how the team's plan changes each week. For the number of snaps he was in the game, Corey Dillon had a very productive day. Also, it was interesting to note Heath Evans taking the most snaps of all the running backs, a reflection on his versatility to line up as a running back on third down (replacing Kevin Faulk), or a fullback in a lead blocking role. Rookie Chad Jackson saw his load increase, although of his 22 snaps, eight came on the final drive. As his statistics indicate (4 catches, 134 yards, TD), Reche Caldwell had an extremely productive day for the snaps he played. The Patriots put a bit more on the plate of Daniel Graham at tight end, as the team compensates for the loss of the injured Benjamin Watson.

MONDAY PLAN: Today is a travel day back to Boston. We'll be on and off the web throughout the day.



Interesting to see how much Graham played.

Chad Jackson participated a little more. If he can deliver one or two good plays, or one big play the guy could be a special weapon.

For all fans of the NEP's.....the tireless reporting of M. Reiss is very much appreciated by all.

I think I speak for all of us when I say that Reiss's Pieces is a must read - several times a day and in particular, when confirmation of breaking news is needed. He is trusted and quite impartial.


That article he wrote last week with quotes from BB & SP was awesome. Here he was, at the facility, when all his brother & sister reporters were out drinking XMAS cheer. He deserved that interview based on his hard work.

Reiss is the best working reporter in the Boston sports world. He shows how the job should be done if it weren't full of lazy know-nothings who think Sports reporting is getting some meaningless "gotcha" quote.

I especially like his innovation of reporting a) who played, b) who started and c) how many plays they got in for.

I would love to see him do it for the STs too. Just who is on the coverage and blocking teams on STs. And what positions do they play.

I have always believed in the dictum that bad money drives out good and bad reporting drives out good reporting, Nothing like the Hedda Hopper/Louella Parsons wannabe of Sports reporting that useless slug Will McDonut, who didn't know squat about the sports he covered and tried to hide it.

He ruined a generation of reporters emulating him, digging out the dirt of off field contract controversies, love lives, and other nonsense drivel, as if sports fans are like Variety and Hollywood Reporter's female airhead readers anxious to read manufactured drivel produced by publicity agents to keep their celebs name in the "news"....

I agree, he does great breakdowns. I wonder if he views the tape himself to get those numbers. To me that is a ton of work if he does it himself and it shows solid info of how the game was played.

I hope we don't lose the guy to free agency.

i've lived in five "serious sports towns" in my adult life (Washington DC, where they might not know much but where they're nuts about the Redskins, New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Miami--the latter more for Hoops and College Football rather than Pro Football) and Reiss is in a class by himself with the information he provides and his willingness to dialogue back and forth via e-mail with a fan.
