Bruschi: Mayo is a Top 3 Linebacker

AJ Hawk? I think you mean Clay Matthews. AJ has been a bust.

AJ Hawk is not a bust. He was stuck playing weakside 43 olb for two years then got stuck playing 34 SILB. He started to play better last year when the Packers 34 WILB got injured and he moved to that spot.
No way the Packers are paying him 11m this year of a 34 million deal is he is a bust.

I think in a 34, both Mayo and Harris are play stoppers. I also think that the move to 43 weakside LB, will help Mayo turn into a playmaker in addition to being a play stopper.

AJ Hawk is a huge bust.

Ray Lewis is the best Linebacker of all time.

Mayo's terrific.

But not as good as Willis.

Yeah a 'bust' who is making 11m on his second deal that is worth 34m .

408 tacles in only 3 years. Defensive rookie of the year. Might not be an ESPN poster boy but he does what a LB is suppose to do, be all over the field. He is elite.

I agree. He is elite. But I wouldn't say he is a playmaker. He is a play stopper like Davis Harris, who is perfect for now semi defunct bend but don't break defense. I really wish he didn't have stone hands.

He does look like a playmaker in the new 43u defense. Can't wait to see how he does in the new defense.

Bust being a somewhat relative term and considering that NFL teams often sign players to deals that are unwarranted... AJ Hawk is more-or-less a bust, especially considering expectations coming out.

I don't consider him a bust. A disappointment?sure since he was the 4th overall pick. I consider him as a lower tier of play stoppers. If the Packers thought less of him, they wouldn't have given him a 34m contract.

There are still people who think that Ray Lewis, right now, is better than Mayo? Have these people watched the Ravens at any point in the last year? It's a testament to Lewis that he's still good, even at his age, but the dropoff between the elites like Mayo and him is pretty significant.

It's the overrating of the flashy plays that does it.

1. Willis
2. Lewis
3. Mayo
4. Urlacher

I think Lewis is still the heart and soul of that Ravens defense but he's playing for a while, I think he's lost a step. Same goes for Urlacher and the Bears defense. That's why I have the young guns on the rise. Overalll Willis and Mayo are the best young inside backers in the game and by the end of the year this is where I think they'll be at. Someone might even pass Urlacher. There are a lot of good inside backers in the NFL. But the range and tackling ability that Willis and Mayo possess are special. It's too bad we can't have em both!

Not sure that Mayo is better than Urlacher. Admittedly I dont watch very many Bears games, but Urlacher's instincts are off the chart and he makes plays all over the field (INT and fumble recovery for TD last week alone)

Tedy gets no argument from me whatsoever.

Urlacher is not a better a player than Mayo.
