I disagree. I remember him catching a few from Mallett and Hoyer. He also played as a blocking WR in 1WR sets.

And, not that it matters, but I remember hearing that he was Mallett's go-to guy.

I think he is in line to see an increased offensive role this year. But I could be wrong.

He had at least one catch last game, and at least 2-3 other long catches in the games before that. With his speed, I'd love to see increased playing time for him. Or more accurately, targeted more often, because for whatever reason, it doesn't seem like Brady likes to throw to him.

Richard Paul Ohrnberger? Not on a few lists as making the squad.
I was looking for a player that the Pats would cut to make room for TE -Algie
when he comes back next week
OBerger went to IR. We need another interior OL

I was talking about deep passes. not any passes.
I dont see room for a lot of playing time for Price, I dont know how Slater gets any.

Re: Yeatman cut

So....Old balls wins?
:D;)

yes he does. I was very disappointed w/ both rookies. I am more happy that we tactically shed Crump's contract salary and signed lots of FA's. Crump can be had at a MUCH cheaper price now.:)

1 of the rookies will develop nicely in time. It is not their time NOT this yr. .

If Ochocinco does not learn the offense Price will see the field. Slater no.

Re: Yeatman cut

I could see the Chiefs picking up Yettman or Lee Smith. Their TE-Tony M tore his ACL and is out for the year.

Cassel is screwed...

Gurode or were they just kicking the tires and doing due diligence?

They brought him in for a talk, not a workout. To me they were getting a feel for his thoughts on Haynesworth. Being that he left without a workout it must not of turned out well. Not that I blame him.

Re: Yeatman cut

I'm not suprised Yeatman was cut. I was suprised Yeatman "and" L Smith were cut.

Maybe Crumpler is healthy now, didn't he fail his physical? In any case the Patriots use the third TE too often, they'll sign someone,

Reiss brought up a GREAT point about the 3rd TE spot. If it does come down to needing another TE in the future they'll have 3 players to choose from between Yeatman, Smith, and Crumpler. This had to be in BB's head when making the cuts. Even if Yeatman and Smith get picked up, Crumpler has been sitting on his couch for the past month and is not going anywhere.

Re: Yeatman cut

SEE:6 cornerbacks and Jeff Tarpinian at LB:rocker:

Probably just for tonight... Rumor has it they are still dangling Butler on the trade market and if they add a an OG and a TE to the offense they will have to part with two defenders...

Short term our LT in waiting and Manieri were both TE conversions...

The writers are suggesting that the Pats will add an OL or TE and cut a DB or LB. But as I look at the roster the one thing that stands out is that they have too many defensive linemen. You don't need 10 DL to play a 4-3. I do think you need 16 DB + LB, though, because of special teams. I predict they will cut a D-lineman in the next few days.

Of course 85 has learned the offense, he just needs to become comfortable within it with the sight adjustments. Its not learning, its repetition.

This isn't meant facetiously, but is there a VAST difference between playing FT blocking TE and LT/RT? In other words, could that possibly be a way to get Solder on the field until he's ready to take over at tackle?

I think he started out in college as te.

I'm not sure how far in the air these were, or how many yards after the catch, but..

game 1, 1 catch, 43 yards
game 2, 2 catches 11,19 yards
game 3, 1 catch, 53 yards
game 4, 1 catch 64 yards

Obviously there are 5 other guys at receiver ahead of him on the depth chart at receiver, but he's by far faster than any of them.

I think that fits within the typical definition of "learning." It's a continuum, and 85 looks like he's still working toward mastery.

Slater is big, strong, athletic, and has great timed speed. He hasn't played WR much, but I don't think it makes sense to make definitive statements about how much he will or won't play. Just purely from a physical standpoint, there's no reason why he can't play.

 Taylor Price is definitely faster than Slater.

Its possible.
I think vs the Giants we saw the way the 43 is going to line up with everyone healthy.
We will have 3 big DLs and one 34OLB/43DE type.
Then in sub package we will have 2 34OLB/43 DE types outside and 1 or 2 inside rushers coming from the other 3 spots in the base depth chart, to wit:

Base
LDE Ellis, Wright, Pryor
DT Haynesworth, Warren, Love
DT Wiflork, Warren, Pryor
RDE Carter, Cunningham, Anderson

Sub
DE Carter, Anderson, Ninko
DE Cunnigham, Anderson, Ninko
DT Ellis, Wright, Haynesworth, Pryor, Warren

I think we need to have at least 8 of these guys active each game and I can see regular reps for all 8.

Re: Yeatman cut

I said this in the cut thread, but to reiterate Reiss brought up a great point about the 3rd TE. Why keep a blocking TE now when you can have one later. Yeatman, Smith, and Crumpler all provide the same value and it's a very good chance that one of the 3 will be available during the season. Keeping in mind Crumpler has been sitting on his couch the past month.
