Broncos say NoMo to LoMo

I'm going to go with Chad Jackson.

Explain Leonard Russell. Explain Kevan Barlow.
The NFL is littered with runningbacks that looked pretty decent at first but turned out to be busts.
Are you STILL defending him?
Let it go people. Sheesh! LOL.

Jackson contributed much less than Maroney, as did many others.
People seem to want to forget that Maroney was very effective splitting time with Dillon as a rookie, was the #1 RB and averaged 4.5 a carry on the best offense in NFL history in his second year, and after an injury in 08, had a decent year in 2009.
Almost 2500 yards and 21 TDs may not be what anyone hoped his Pat career would add up to, but he was a reasonably effective #1 for 2 years and a 1A in another.
True "busts" dont earn jobs much less produce well, if not at probowl levels.

Which by Denver's record past season is basically a 3rd round pick, but we gave the Denver pick to Seattle for Return of the Twig. Go figure

Which was a bad move. Our pick maybe, but that Denver pick was a bad move.

That's not true at all, he carried the team versus Jacksonville in the playoffs and had a nice game in 07 versus the Chargers in the AFCCG.

NFL Videos: AFC Championship: Laurence Maroney highlights

People can hate him which is understandable, because the end of his career was a disappointment, but he did stuff Green-Ellis could never do. I'll admit I was wrong about the Lawfirm, and I'm glad I was, but Maroney looked special in 2006.

Maroney never, ever, in his career ran for 1000 yards in a season as BJGE did this season. Maroney never had a season without a fumble in his career either.

One word: injuries. The wrong injury can turn even a great player into nothing special. And Maroney was never a great player: he was a pretty good player whose injuries apparently robbed him of his athleticism.

Of course no one knew but we had our chance to get both Maurice Jones Drew AND Greg Jennings instead of Maphony and Crap Jackoffson ...of course like others did as well

I don't begrudge Coach Bill's decision to trade Jennings and #75 for Jackson ~ there was plenty to support his desire for Jackson, though I sure as hell would've preferred we NEVER draft a Wide Out or Running Back in the Top 64.

What I would've loved, would've been to've Traded Back into 2007 ~ and, thence, into 2008 and beyond, if needs be!! ~ with #52 and #75...OR package them with whatever we garnered from moving back from #21 to #28...and snag OC Nick Mangold and DF (OLB) Matthias Kiwanuka.

But that's Hind Sight, of course. :p

***

HERE'S a chuckle...

I'm going to go with Chad Jackson.

Actually Adrian Klemm leads all 2nd round picks. NE has missed on Kareem Brown and Wheatley too.

Dance Mo is the biggest bust because he was the 21st player taken in that draft.

Mcourty was 27th
Wilfork was 21st
Mankins was 32nd

I'm convinced, given the talent destruction of the Denver Broncos, that the 2006 Patriots draft was influenced by Josh McDaniels. McDaniels also wasted a Broncos 4th rounder to trade for Maroney.
What a waste to draft Chad Jackson, Laurence Maroney, Garrett Mills, etc. The last two drafts have been much more characteristic of Bill Belichick-type drafts.

Brown was a 4th rounder but Wheatley may be the worst of the BB era. Three tackles, those are his career stats, for a 2nd round pick. As bad as CJ was at least he scored 3 TD's.

Ben Watson was not exactly a great pick either.

He had a few shining moments over the years, but for a 1st round pick he was not even close to worth it

I think your expectations are very high compared to reality.
Watson, even with injury issues has had a better career than a number of players drafted ahead of him.

While hindsight is a virtue,We certainly could have done better with that pick than Watson at another position...thats my point

Watson was not 1st round worthy as we see

Note that they "repeated" the Thomas/Mills picks this year with GRONK/Hernandez. The main difference is that this year they didn't have two first-round draft picks at that position ahead of them on the depth chart.

Also, FWIW, the "talent destruction" of the Donkeys was self-inflicted before JMCD got there. It's not his fault that Cutler and Marshall decided they didn't want to be there anymore after they fired Shanahan, nor is it really JMCD's fault that Peyton Hillis apparently decided to hit on McDaniels' wife.

I dont understand what another position has to do with it.
My point is that Watson career has probably been the norm or even above average for players picked in the vicinity of where he was.
You cant use hindsight to say one player still on the board worked out better and ignore that many players picked ahead of him did not.
I mean, not unless you want to live in a fantasy world where every pick turns out to be the guy left on the board who turns out the best.

My personal opinion (which of course means squat to the F.O.) was that we didn't NEED to draft a tight end that early in 2004,I think the pick would have been better used elsewhere that draft.

I have never been crazy about drafting Tight Ends in the first round EVER.

OF course BB disagrees.
But, that really has nothing to do with whether Watson was n ot worthy of being a 1st round pick.

Don't know why but I just noticed something.....

Why do you call him LoMo? Laurence Maroney

I guess these are the kind of stupid posts that will happen when I'm bored in the offseason. :yawn2:
