I'd much rather grab Deangelo Williams in free agency, myself. That would set up the draft to fall pretty much perfectly for me.
Agree
The
ONE CONVICTION I will push for the next couple of months is our dire need to bring in a premium player at the RB position.
People might ask, "Don't you think the Law Firm is a solid player".. Yes but does he have the ability to take over a game when the defense is keying on Brady? I haven't seen it and its been almost 3 full seasons since we've had a RB who could take the rock and dictate the pace of the game.
Look at it this way.. A running back of D. Williams talent would help ..
1. A legit play maker who can take the rock to the goal on every play
2. Take the pressure off Brady when teams focus on Brady
3. He's got great hands where if Brady checks from under center to shot gun, DW can slide over and can block, run a draw or catch out of the backfield.
4. He's in a system now where J. Stewart and him share the ball.. Very similar if he came here.. BJGE and he would split the carries.. He's a back in the last 3 out of 4 years averaged 5 ypc..
5. AND THE MAJOR REASON.. The addition of DW along with BJGE/Woodley dictates the flow, eats up time and helps out our young defense.. Want to limit their exposure? Best way to do it, limit the times the defense is out on the field.
Saying that, I would not break the bank for him but I wouldn't expect a vet minimum contract.. As DRYHEAT44 pointed out, he's 27 turning 28 in 2 months and is coming off an injury.. But remember in his 1st two years he only carried the ball part time (less wear and tear).. Kind of reminds me of a Thomas Jones..
