Ingram at #17?

Given the playmakers on defense will be off the board by #17. Do we turn to offense? An if so......

Would Ingram at #17 fill the RB void left by the departures of Faulk, Morris and Taylor?

That would give us a potential 3 headed monster of Green, Woodhead and Ingram?

Ingram is tremendous between the tackles and rarely gets stopped for negative yardage. Except when playing Auburn hardly never fumbles and is more than willing in blitz pick up.

But he is not the fastest, not that great catching the ball and seems to be eternally nicked up or dinged.

As much as I've liked Ingram over the years, I can't shake the lasting impression of that 3 fumble game. If he would do that in a playoff game here in New England it would not be so easily forgiven.

17? With BB would anybody really be suprised? Dissapointed? Yes, considering the needs we as fans think our more important. However I wouldn't question that he could help this team improve it's offense. I would just question when it is clear there are other pressing needs.

At 17? Yes. 33? no.

You know when BB has his mind set on who he's going to draft he waits as long as he can to actually draft him. So, if he really likes a defensive player or two who aren't going before #28 or #33 he might take Ingram with #17.....or some mix of the picks.

But there's growing support for Mikel LeShoure.

I disagree and don't know why everyone thinks the Dolphins will take him with their first pick. I bet the Dolphins go defense with 15.

Talk to me after we draft a DE, OLB, OT, OG, C and a S.

Seriously, I see a lot of OT's DE's and OLB's being available in the first 33 picks (and even a guard or two. Thre are literally hundreds of combinations that I would be ecstatic about with our first 3 picks. None involves drafting a running back.

That being said, I could understand if Belichick rated one of the running backs highly enough to draft so that we get one on the first 35; I just don't see it happening.

I'd much rather grab Deangelo Williams in free agency, myself. That would set up the draft to fall pretty much perfectly for me.

29 - OLB/G (Depends upon Pouncey, In my mock)
33 - G/OLB
60 - WR

In my 'perfect' scenario, BB would some of the remaining package picks to get another pick in the second (OG or OLB), and trade the rest of his picks into next year.


When talking about it with mocks, though, I just make the assumption that no moves not already made will have been made. To me, taking that approach just seems to make the most sense.

No, it isn't a foregone conclusion that Miami will select Ingram in the first round. But I would imagine that he and DeAngelo Williams are on their radar.

It isn't uncommon for those in the media and for fans to speculate about a team selecting a running back in the first round when that team is in dire need of help at the position. Running backs Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, Patrick Cobbs, Lex Hilliard and Kory Sheets are free agents. So, as of now, fullbacks Lousaka Polite and Deon Anderson are the only running backs under contract in 2011.

Yeah, I would've to say that Miami could strongly consider selecting a running back with the fifteenth pick. Ingram's the popular choice but he isn't the only choice at the position. Ultimately, Tony Sparano will have a say on what direction the team goes in for running back.

Next to Akeem Ayers he's the guy I just don't understand what is justifying the hype.

Ingram seems to be this years Dez Bryant, everybody has the Pats taking him and I just can't see it. I can't really see how is better than BJGE. The Pats have much bigger needs to fill than RB. I think the kid from Pittsburg Dieon Lewis is a much better back and can be had in the 3rd or maybe even the 4th rounds, Ditto for Deleon Carter from Syracuse. Ingram had one big game this year and that was against Georgia State a first year team!

I take a big pass on Ingram. Let's face it, if they do not re-sign Light LT is going to be the target at 17. The OLB/DE and then Guard. RB is far down on the lists of needs.

Maybe BB will take the highest rated player on his board at 17 regardless of position.... Just a thought...... If he doesn't feel anyone ranks that high he trades down. Honestly, I don't really see this year's draft a strong 1st round.
