We bring back Martinez and Beltre, we get two quality arms for the bullpen, and we sign Carl Crawford. Also everybody else gets healthy and is ready to start 2011 on time.

Our new lineup would look something like this...

1. Ellsbury CF
2. Crawford LF
3. Pedroia 2B
4. Ortiz DH
5. Youk 1B
6. V-Mart C
7. Beltre 3B
8. Drew RF
9. Scutaro SS

That's worthy of taking a few minutes to daydream about, in my opinion.

(I know some might say Ellsubry should be at the bottom, but that's an argument for another time/thread.)

At this point I really don't care about what happens with Papelbon. It's sad to see what has been happening with him, but the Red Sox should not invest a lot of money in him at this point, especially when they have Bard that should be capable of taking over the closer roll.

Crawford is past his peak ... I'd rather see one of the rookies take a spot on the team.

Does V Mart stay? Will he get paid in Boston?

I wouldn't. I would take Crawford any day of the week

thats a nice line up except for the guy hitting in the 8 hole. i would like to see one of the kids in right field.

Agreed...I like drew as a veteran hitter/backup OF but using someone like Kalish in RF would be nice....More speed, good arm and a left handed bat....

I also think we should resign V-mart to something like a 3 year deal....He gives us an awesome hitter from the catcher position....

Edit: Or I am wondering if we don't resign Papelbon if we could spend the money to go get a Jayson Werth to play RF? A younger player that can do it all....I doubt we would get a cargo with the season he is putting up but someone like werth is a possibility.....

Next year will be a contract year for Drew, right? If so, watch him have his best year so far for the Red Sox.
