Thanks pherin, he's fine and participated in full pads practice this afternoon.

Good luck tonight and enjoy your Thursday night opening the season as reigning freakin' champions of the world!!! These are moments to treasure. Once they kickoff you are 0-0 just like the rest of us, though hopefully at the end of the evening you will be 1-0 NFC frontrunners!!

Re: Brady reported in an accident-Update: Shaken but now on way to Stadium

We are talking MA drivers here, so the rule is always assume something stupid is going to happen.

True, but there is a delay between one light turning red and another turning green. It was 6:30 in the morning, and the car running the red probably assumed there was little traffic on the road. To make the noise described at the scene, they were probably really gunning it through the red assuming there was no one on the other side. Which is pretty irresponsible. That said, its absurd to wish harm on anyone (well, aside from the tongue-in-cheek variety). Who here hasn't run a red in their life?!

We are so glad to hear that, and will prey it stays that way.

..and thanks, its going to be surreal to see 2 banners come down in the Dome.
I know the boys are ready, they just need to play their ball, and we should get a win. Loved being a Champion for once, but will love trying again even more. Football is such a great game.

Brady is such a blessing for the game, because he pushes us all to get better on the field, or get off it. We would all like to see him finish on top, he deserves it.

Awesome.

It'll be even more effective if they mention the fact that the other guy needed the jaws of life while Brady just walked away.

I know someone who was in such a commercial for Volvo back about 20 years ago. . . . he and his wife were shaken up, too, but they basically walked away.

I'm not even joking when I say that my next car will be an Audi because of this. I feel like I owe them big time.

Re: Brady reported in an accident-Update: Shaken but now on way to Stadium

If he purposely ran a red light he deserves whatever he gets, I don't care if he's paralyzed. You just don't do that. Unfortunately it seems like it's happening more and more these days. It's at a point where if I'm stopped at a red light, when it turns green I wait a few extra seconds and try to look both ways before I go.

Wow, your name fits well ;)

Re: Brady reported in an accident-Update: Shaken but now on way to Stadium

There are a number of cars as good as Audi in this respect, but you can tell from the photos that it performed admirably, just as designed. The front end is completely collapsed, but the passenger door, at least looks perfectly intact. The fact that Brady could get out (readily -- no Jaws of Life), means that door was okay, too.

Mercedes are like this, and I'm pretty sure BMWs are just as good. I don't know how many other cars.

Good for Audi, good for Tom!

BostonTraffic.Org just reported that Wave 'em In Wendall Kim was operating traffic lights in that part of Boston

Re: Brady reported in an accident-Update: Shaken but now on way to Stadium

I was a mechanic for 16 years, specializing in German cars -- MB, BMW, Porsche, Audi. Once saw a Mercedes at the NYC factory shop that had the rear crumpled so bad that the rear bumper was exactly underneath the rear windshield. All four doors opened and closed perfectly.

And that was in 1969. They've been engineering safe-for-the-passenger cars for a long time.

And a Pats fan since then, too! Just silent until now.

Brady was shaken? You should have seen Patriot nation around 8 this morning

So where is Brady living these days? NJ plates? :confused2:

Re: Brady reported in an accident-Update: Shaken but now on way to Stadium

I'm pretty sure it was stated earlier something about all the Kraft owned cars being NJ registered?

Nice of the Globe to confirm what folks here already knew aboutthem NJ plates:

The Boston police report from the accident confirmed today that the owner of the car is in fact "VW Credit, Inc.," which is the financial service arm of Volkswagen Group of America, based in Englewood Cliffs, N.J. Volkswagen is the parent company of Audi.

Audi confirmed that the $97,000 S8 model was a loaner from the company as a part of the agreement between Brady and the car company involving "Best Buddies," a charity dedicated to helping people with developmental disabilities. Audi is the official car of the charity, for whom Brady has served as honorary chairman the past few years.

Well then perhaps they can find a way to auction off the car as is when it's done being processed for the accident. Bet someone would pay way over market value for that car ... for charity.

Agreed. There are several manufacturers that I identify with making vehicles that leave the passenger protected under (virtually) every foreseeable circumstance. Volvo, Mercedes, Lexus are my top three, but Audi definitely gets another look after this accident, though from the photos it looks as much like it was the heft of Audi's top model vs. a tinny minivan as much as anything else that protected Brady. Ever since we had our children, my first concern is vehicle integrity and passenger protection in the event of a serious accident. These companies make cars that are designed around keeping the passenger compartment intact even if the rear and front are totaled.

I personally can attest to Lexus' integrity after a (very!) large tree branch came down on my roof, just above the windshield, when I was driving my old SC400 around 40MPH a few years ago (so, big object plus 40MPH of forward propulsion). The windshield honeycombed and caved but did not shatter, just leaving me with a few cuts, but the roof itself buckled at the front no more than two inches and held. I must have heard, "Man, you're lucky to be alive" and "Can you believe that freaking roof held?" a half a dozen times from the cops and firemen who responded to the scene as the branch was cut up so it could be removed from the road.

Re: Brady reported in an accident-Update: Shaken but now on way to Stadium

The driver who ran the red light is an A-hole and deserves whatever bad may have happened to him. I would say the same if it was Joe Shmoe that was hit instead of Brady. You have to be a piece of sh*t to endanger people's lives to save a minute of your time.

You know, you might be right. This could have been some guy coming home drunk from an all nighter or some moron texting while driving. Or he could have been a guy rushing a sick kid to the hospital or somebody who usually drives safely operating under a lot of stress related to his family or job. None of those things excuse someone's actions, but they do put them in different lights.
