Re: OT: Matt Leinart Released

Sorry mods, forgot about the non-nfl cuts, please move. :bricks:

Wow, that one caught me by surprise.

It really shouldn't.

He didn't look very good at all on those rare occasions when he did see the field (0 for 5 as a passer, 48 yards on 20 carries + 1 long meaningless gain of 33, 0 TDs, 1 INT, 1 fumble). Certainly not enough to justify the second they spent on him.

I can remember at the draft when the Pats picked Edelman.... All the announcers were saying that the Pats just added a lesser version of Pat White and what a mistake the Pats made for not taking White..

Guess the Pats had the last laugh there.

More releases from Schefter:

Travis Fisher, Ravens
Donald Thomas, Dolphins
Tim Brown, Giants
Gartrell Johnson, Giants.
PSquad option at RB.

Another second rounder left by the wayside

"Dolphins weren't only AFC East team today to cut a former second-round pick. Bills cut WR James Hardy, another former second rounder."

Schefter on twitter

Edelman had the good sense to throw himself into the role he had the best chance to succeed at. Meanwhile White said it's the QB way or the highway. Hello, highway!

But he isn't a 2009 second :)

Well, if we take Edelman at his word, that role was "football player." :)

"We don't know what you're going to play," Belichick told Edelman at the time. "But we know you can play football."

Seriously, though, Edelman and his coach Doug Martin deserve a lot of props for recognizing that Edelman could play at another position, and putting in the effort to make that happen.

Ravens cuts, per PFT:

Cornerback Travis Fisher
Wide receiver Eron Riley
Tight end Davon Drew
Offensive tackle Devin Tyler
Linebacker Albert McClellan
Cornerback Prince Miller
Defensive back Brad Jones
Kicker Shayne Graham
A PSquad option.

Chevis Jackson CB from LSU interesting.........

Houshmandzedah has been released

Leinhart has been told he's to be released.

Per Schefter, BTW

i think the jets will make a run at housh...

They can give him a contract to p**s Revis off even more ;)

Box - would you prefer Gatrell or Ian?
If you are talking about the Boise State kid they're two different players and I'd be happy with either or both.

Speaking of which, here's some tasty FAIL from a Miami newspaper:

UPDATE 1:06 P.M.: ESPN is reporting that Pat White has been cut as well. A source close to White tells me this is “very likely” true, but that White’s camp has not personally been informed of this decision. The 2009 second-round pick was philosophical and at peace as he prepared to meet his fate, as you’ll see in this blog entry. He also sounds up for continuing his football career elsewhere, with the Patriots already being mentioned (as on Draft Day 2009) as a possible landing spot.

I will be dumbfounded if Pat White ever rocks the [edit] Flying Elvis.
