Not nice headline.
The ranks got a bit thinner Tuesday afternoon when Marques Murrell was carted off the field at the end of practice. The severity of Murrell's condition is unclear. (update: Murrell was carted off for a heat-related cramping-type issue)
We just arent in a position to make this decision. There is too much we dont know. How ready is he? IS he the best player at the position already? He may win the job without consideration of developing more quickly, he might be so close the guy ahead of him its a nobrainer, and he might be so far away from ready, understanidng the D, learning the techniques that he would be a liability. At this point, I think we sink or swin with Cunningham and simply throw him into the fire now and let him learn and take his lumps. I would rather begin the development process NOW on a young upside draft pick than hand the role over to a guy like Pierre Woods who has already shown us all that he has, we're not going to see anything more, so let's hand it to the kid and begin the process so he's ready as early as possible.
Hey from what I've read, he was competing for playing time there, so this could be more than a non-story.

Which is great news, because there is no doubt our best situation at OLB would be with Cunningham having a great camp, being fully ready to go, and desewrving to start week 1.From everything I'm hearing, it appears that Cunningham is getting an extensive amount of time with the 1's.
never mind. looks like it is a non-story....reiss now says it's a heat related/ cramp type thing.
