I just find it amusing but don't take it seriously. I would rather talk about the three division teams and how they compare matchup wise.
I can give you a quick summation if you like?
Patriots.....> Dolphins.....>Jets...................................................>Bills
Three division teams??? You guys talk about matching up with the Bills
I know the Bills get no respect for a reason, but c'mon; they beat the Dolphins and the Jets last year, and every honest Pats fan knows that they should have beaten the Pats in the opener. In the second Pats/Bills game, the Pats only won by one score.
If the Bills can stop the run with their new defensive scheme, they might surprise people soon. They have a very good secondary...second in the league against the pass last year, and that was without McKelvin, who was put on IR in week 3 - he hung around just long enough to give the Pats a gift.
Speaking of IR, the Bills had twenty-something guys on IR by the end of the season last year. They were the most hurt team by far, which is why they have a new strength and conditioning program this year. They fired their Offensive Coordinator and Left Tackle right before the season started...like the week before. Their Right Tackle was out for the year after the second game. Two rookies for Guards. We had ONE guy that had ever started his position on the o-line in the NFL, and he was new to the Bills. We had like 8 different o-lines last year, moving guys around. Yeah, we didn't address the line much, but at least the guys we have now have experience and will be back from injury, and there is still a chance we pick up Gaither or Brown at Left Tackle. The biggest thing is that the Bills got rid of Jauron...during the season.
Anyway, the Dolphins only won a single more game than the Bills last year. They pick up two big-name free agents, and everyone goes crazy. I believe they payed Marshall and Dansby record-breaking dollar amounts at their positions, or somewhere close to that. Henne is far from proven, too. They don't exactly scare me. They got better, but they don't scare me.
The hype around the Jets is sickening. First of all, the Bills QBs outperformed Sanchez in every important category: the Bills QBs had more TDs, less INTs, a better completion percentage, and more yards than Sanchez...yet the general consensus is that the Bills have crap at QB and Jets have their franchise QB, or at least most people give Sanchez a free pass for being a rookie. There is no guarantee that he will only get better.
Secondly, the media is knob-slobbering about the Jet's free agency pick-ups, yet they always fail to mention the guys they lost: Thomas Jones, Alan Faneca, Lito Sheppard, Kerry Rhodes, Leon Washington, etc. The Jets won last year because of their defense and running game, and they lost their workhorse. We'll see if Greene can carry the load. Also, the Jets only had 4 draft picks this year, two of whom are running backs.
I can't see how people think that the Bills actually have gotten worse this offseason. They got better, too. The biggest thing is they got new GM and Head Coach, one who understands how to play to player's strengths. The Bills DO have some talent on their team. We don't pick up any big name free agents, so everyone wants to take another crap on the team. We picked up some role players at positions of need. Yeah, we didn't get a QB, but the pickings were slim this year; guess we didn't want to set ourselves back a few years by taking a guy we didn't like enough in the draft. No way the Bills get swept by every team in the division. I'll bet anyone any amount of money.
