McCourty, Cunningham, Hernandez.

Love what he wrote about Cunningham:

Cunningham is one guy who really flew under the radar all draft season. However, he’s an explosive, coordinated athlete who should be able to step in and instantly improve the Pats’ ability to reach the passer on third downs.

Check out what he says about Hernandez, too. Inspiring, that's for sure. Especially as a player chosen as low as he was.

Bunting totally loves Hernandez. He had him in his Super 30 (the 30 best prospects) before the Draft and compared him to Dallas Clark. Let's hope he is right.

Not a big follower of college football, but everything I hear about Cunningham is that he was the better player than Carlos Dunlop, but Dunlop got all the glory.

If Hernandez = Dallas Clark,
and Gronkowski = Jason Witten,
Pats fans = :D :rocker: :D :rocker: :D

yet, I think Spikes will make an immediate impact. Looks like a great crop of rooks!

I really dont understand the grades, but I still think Cody will do nothing in this league

If they are even remotely comparable to those two they will either run wild down the middle or teams will have to pack it in and Randy will have a field day running deep to the outside.

I thought that all three played really well for the pats in 2010. Should be fun to watch them when they take the field again next year!!!!!

Good read, nothin said about the Gronk

That's because the Gators defense completely collapsed the one game he was out of the line-up against Alabama. The reason for this is because the pass rush deteriorated. McElroy (Alabama's QB) looked like Brady out there. When Dunlap came back, the defense returned to it's dominant ways against one of the top offenses in the country in Cincy.

But isn't telling that he didn't choose a punter? Sorry Mesko, ranking 23th in net average again won't cut it in 2011.

Well, as usual, any mediot who says something i like is brilliant, so Bunting is brilliant.

I caught a bit of the NFL Network this a.m. and they had a segment on the AFC East teams' drafts. A graphic showed they give the Pats an A-, which is cool. But they really didn't talk much about NE and at the end Eisen said something along the lines of "Well, that's it, though I guess we just kind of glossed over the Patriots." And I think it was Faulk who said "... next year."

And, by the way, the graphic that gave the Pats the A- summed up their '10 draft as "two 1s and two 2s next year."

It's sometimes frustrating that all this trading has been spun as the Patriots not making picks. This for a team that has selected 24 players the past two years, with last year's class potentially being good overall and this year's potentially being very good. I guess it's easier for some of the weaker analysts to focus on all the trading than the actual players chosen.

On the plus side it would be fun if Bunting's predictions came true and fans of other teams were left to think "...huh. I thought the Pats traded out of the draft last year?":)

You heard right.

Yeah...WTH was up with that? Kid had the game of his LIFE! Granted, I only watch maybe a few Alabama games each year, but still...I'm all..who is that and what did they do with the real McElroy? Even considering the lack of pass rush as you noted, he played MUCH better than I've ever seen him do before. Oh well. Good for him. Poopy head. :D

Anyway, good to see 3 of the Pats rooks on this list, really looking forward to this season to see how they (and the rest, esp. Spikes, Gronk and Mesko) will do this season!

Gotta disagree with you.. I think Cody will end up being a top 3 NT within a couple of years..

I could not agree more with you. If he stays healthy, he is a once in a generation player waiting to happen. The thought of him lined up next to Ngata is scary!

In two years, no opposing team had a 100 yard rusher against Alabama with Cody on the nose. He eats up double teams like no one I have ever seen at the college football level.

For the rest of their careers, I will always have Gronkkowski and Cody linked. We could have had Cody, but took a guy with a bad back instead.

Dunlap was a beast, adept at playing the pass and the run.

Cunningham was a slow pass rusher only. Teams ate him alive by running at him. I have no idea why BB took Cunningham, but God help us if he is ever in coverage. Some offensive linemen are faster than him.

If Cunningham and Spikes were running the forty in a race, you would need to bring a chair and a pillow in order to catch some sleep before that race ends.

Can you imagine how happy Spiller (4.2) is going to be when he plays the Pats and sees Spikes (5.0) and Cunningham (4.9) on the other side of the ball?

Why would we take Cody when we already have Vince Wilfork? That's just stupid. Gronkowski wasn't exactly a scrub in college either, btw.

You're right. Too bad football is a foot race 40 yards in a straight line, eh... we're screwed
