I watched the late night sports shows on the local news stations last night and Gaspar seemed to say all the opposite things of what Mike Riess said. If I was to trust an opinion of one over the other it would have to be Riess'

Ridiculous article. "Belichick did this, this, this, and this wrong. Oh, and Thomas may have been at fault for being late that one day; although he did call ahead because the weather was so bad so it wasn't really his fault."

Vomit inducing. GFY and get out of town, Gasper. Maybe you can write for the paper of whatever team AD signs with.

The Boston sports media has lost its minds. It's like they were hoping and praying the Pats would have a terrible draft so they could continue to bash them for the next 4 months.

Now that the opposite has happened they're all flipping out and just blatantly making stuff up. They're so angry. Bert Breer spent all day Friday shredding them for picking Mccourty. Then they have a great day on Friday and the ONLY artilce he wrote was about how the JETS have gotten "decidedly younger at important positions"!!

It's getting really bad. I still like Mike Reiss, he hasn't gone crazy...yet.

They cant write an article in any way praising the Patriots for any good moves lest they be labeled homers, once your labeled a homer your career is done, you'll never get any respect again in the journalistic world, they would rather get caught having sex with a Goat in fenway park when the Yankess are in town than get labeled a "Homer".

Gasper is a FRAUD! He fits right in with the rest of the frauds at the Globe. If I behaved at my job the way AD behaved at his, I would have been FIRED. The Globe is a joke. So Sad. There are no decent sports newspapers in this town. They are all trash. No wonder Mike left that rag.

Unless someone knows facts not presented, there's nothing wrong with that article, and it's certainly not going "the Felger route", IMO.

I sincerely wonder how much of this is the result of New England (the region)'s Puritan origins. . . .

Remember the articles Breer and Shaunessy wrote BEFORE the Super Bowl declaring Manning the greatest QB of all time?

Here it is if you didn't see it..

Brady-Manning debate? The torch has been passed - The Boston Globe

Then he had to basically print a retraction..

These e-mailers are happy to write about a wrong - The Boston Globe

And now Shalise Manza young seems to have gone to the dark side. She's been negative and snarky too. It's almost as though when you start working there you get brainwashed! Hey, they are owned by a New York paper. Hmmmm...

I get a kick out of some people on this board that get so angry at this stuff when journalists don't praise the Pats or when they say bad things about them. Here's an idea, don't read it. I don't mind this stuff because I take everything I read with a grain of salt and don't get offended unlike most people on this board. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is whether they win or lose. I don't watch press conferences and interviews because 99.9% of the time players/coaches/owners will say everything you want to hear. So get over it.

I have less and less respect for these media clowns..seld interest and HOPING for a bad draft so that will give words...Reiss is still the best..these others..worthless...Gasper is a wannbee...Breer too full of himself..The others?? Following the trend like lemmings..I pay less attention to them....

yeah...nothing except the "facts" he's presenting are actually outside the organization observations. That article has a decidely "Borges Jr." tone to it.

If you've got facts, please present them. Otherwise it's just another case of a bunch of fans bashing the media simply because the media didn't shine the shoes of the local team.

The article is less Felger and more Shank. Cover all sides but end up smugly superior.

He starts with the following premise:
"It is because he stood up for himself that the curtain has finally fallen on his career as a New England Patriot."

I'm sure his play had nothing to do with it.

I love this one - Gasper as Dr. Phil:

Coach Bill Belichick botched his relationship with Thomas by not bridging the communication gap,

This is a gem too:
Belichick desires players who resemble the Jetsons' maid, Rosie -- robots who respond to his every command.

Successful Patriots players are robots? Ok, ignore the silly AD/Jetsons reference stretch - I don't many successful leaders who don't expect their commands to be followed.

Gasper's limitations came out when he began to write columns. Little substance and a heaping dose of cutesy. A Boston Sports Media formula.

Thanks Hardboiled...you saved me the time

I have to disagree with you Fencer. While Gaspar doesn't have all the facts and clearly takes a jab at BB, his comments aren't nearly as bad as you'd have us believe. The article is definitely biased towards Thomas, but Gaspar doesn't vilify BB as the epitome of evil.

You mean follow what the hall of fame coach tells you to do? Was'nt is parcells that used to say its not a democracy its a dictatorship.

That is why you have to read the best football writers that don't live in this region such as Rick Gosselin from the Dallas morning news. On draft day he made his mock draft @ pick #24 to Philly he had McCourty going to them, yet when the pick was made the local media went crazy as if BB had lost his mind. It's typical they don't do their homework and in Gosselin's mock McCourty was called an elite cover corner back who is probably the best special teams player in this draft. Since special teams is 1/3 of the game and he is one the best cover guys coming out this year I actually think it was a very good pick. For the record he gave them an A for their draft and also set up the board for next year where they will wheel and deal again with 2 #1's and 2 #2's. They are rebuilding on the fly their team is becoming considerably younger and as long as they have Brady they have arguably the # 1 or 2 qb in all of the NFL I'll go to battle with him. By the way what was the score of the last game with the Jets 31-14 Pats.

I don't see how people are upset with this article.

He makes some valid points i.e. the Pats should have done their homework on the type of personality they brought in when they signed Adalius and whenever there's a breakdown in communication in a professional relationship, it's should always be the supervisor to address the problem.

IMO, Gasper is in the middle between Borges (who is anti-Belichick) and Reiss (mouthpiece of the Pats).

I do read Gosselin...and Jason Whitlock from KC...regularly
