Yeah, he only had a Hall-of-Famer at #1 during 98-01 (and a probable HOF-er at RB). Anyway, his record through those years (32-32) kind of proves my point, regardless.
I am nearly positive he used a plural. I realize he had one hall of fame WR. Brady has Randy Moss and Wes Welker. Say Brady had Randy Moss at #1 and no Wes Welker?
I've skimmed this forum, and the complaining about depth has been endless. Manning had no depth. He had one great wide receiver from 1998-2001. Your community is sitting here lobbying for a 3rd and 4th receiver, saying Brady doesn't have enough weapons although he has two great receivers. Manning only had ONE great receiver and still had a 33 TD MVP type season in his second year. So let me get this straight, Manning is "loaded" with weapons with one great WR while Brady doesn't have enough weapons with two great WRs? Choose your standard, then get back at me.
Your argument about his record is a joke. He came into a team that was in the gutter, 3-13 the year he came. They were troubled in every aspect of the game, and he can only do so much when he got there. Take away that 3-13 season, and you have a 29-19 record. Look at that, his entire record skewed by one season with a horrible team. Luckily for Brady, he stepped into a luxury by doing nothing all rookie season and walking into a Belichick coached team, not the #1 draft pick being thrown into the wolves in his first season.
If your argument is that the division was great two years ago, that it occasionally puts up a good team in addition to the Colts, and that people have predicted the Texans or the Jags would knock them off...then have fun with that. Way to name the highs of the AFCS but the lows of the AFCE to make your argument. It's not like Miami won the division recently or anything.
The division was great two years ago. Do I need to spell it out? They had the best winning percentage for a division in NFL history in 2007.
Jacksonville was 9-7 in 2004, 12-4 in 2005, and 11-5 in 2007. The Titans were 12-4 in 2003, 10-6 in 2007, and 13-3 in 2008. The Texans have been an explosive team for a while. Keep in mind that the Colts never had the luxury of facing a team as bad as the 2007 Dolphins, they were one of the worst teams in NFL history. The Colts division has been no cake walk, and if these facts aren't good enough to convince you, then so be it.
I love how you completely omit your namesake from your post, by the way. Apparently, Wayne isn't worth mentioning when it comes to a discussion of the talent that Manning has always had around him. And Dallas Clark says, "Hi."
Wayne wasn't there till 2002. That's a start.
Clark wasn't even a consistently used target in the offense until 2007. Look it up.
Also, you missed the plural again. When I mentioned the 2007 and 2008 seasons, I didn't mention Wayne because he isn't more then one weapon. He's one weapon out there, you act as if Manning has been surrounded by hall of fame talent at WR, RB, TE, OG, OT, FB, OC, HC, and QB Coach. One of those hall of fame Riddell employees must have put together that hall of fame helmet too. Get a grip.
Now address the dome and warm weather advantage, because the other guy pretends it doesn't exist.
What do you want me to address about it? You act as if Brady's been throwing touchdowns in a typhoon is entire career and deserves some special recognition.
