Can I say it now? Vollmer is our new LT!

I will give the LT position to volmer if he can play the run well, block well on screens, and be agile enough to disrupt outside speed rushers.

Shades of "Trade Tom Brady" here...

"you neglect the injury he sustained prior to those calls. He was hurt so he tried to cheat a bit.

Vollmer for LT"

+100

Brady has looked a LOT more confortable in the pocket when SeaBass is in there, those holds were after he was injured, the problem isn't with SeaBass, he did the right thing with those holds (they protected Brady), the problem is that we're thin on the O-Line because we didn't have anyone to sub in for SeaBass.

I mean, the Titans and the Bucs are pretty awful, but Vollmer was matched up against one of the best DEs in the league against Tennessee, and Tampa's D isn't too bad. The teams are quite similar in that the defense is certainly good enough to contribute to a playoff run, but the offense is so bad that they might do better by punting on 1st down. Obviously there wasn't much extra strain because the defense was carrying their own weight, but Vollmer was matched up against VandenBosch and White who are both pretty good.

Light is still a better pass blocker from what I seen in the last two games, but he looked good on the run plays and has a ton of potential. It's earlier but this draft is looking like a great one.

He has a lot of potential, but he hasnt taken Light's spot yet.

Contrary to popular belief, the LT does not play against the opponent's entire defense, and merely plays against the DE (or LB) across from him. Tenessee may suck, but Kyle VandenBosh does not.

Have you watched Vanden Bosch this year? His sucking is a big reason why the Titans have fallen into the abyss. He hasn't recorded a single sack this year in six games. Just because he has a great reputation doesn't mean he isn't struggling this year like the rest of his team. In fact, the Titans are 31st in sacks because they cannot put pressure on the QB.

Vollmer hasn't faced anyone yet. Vanden Bosch isn't anyone based on how he is playing this year.

Stylez White is pretty good? Since 2002, the guy has changed teams 10 times. Well, that is if you include his stint on the Orlando Predators (yes, the arena league team) in 2006 and 2007. But hey you gotta be pretty good to make it in the AFL so good that the shut down because there weren't enough players good enough to reach the level of play.

Seriously, even Stylez White mother doesn't think her son is pretty good.

Can you honestly say that Light has better physical tools than Vollmer? I don't think it's a coincidence that the Pats have had their biggest offensive outbursts of the season with Vollmer starting at LT.

Fred Smerlas says Light is quicker ... Vollmer relies alot on his arms right now. Defenders will begin to knock his arms down with arm bars. Of course Vollmer will adjust ... in the view of Smerlas the kid is good but needs time and is not on the level of Matt Light.

When is Fred gonna start playing some Nose Tackle for us?

His arms may be an advantage vs. Dwight Freeney because the way to nuetralize him is to keep him away from your body so he can't do the spin move, but if he lacks speed it could be a liability vs. speed rushers.

I am not slamming the kid. He shows a lot of promise, but I think it is premature to annoint him the starting LT especially since he hasn't really been tested yet with a top DE or OLB.

I didn't see exactly when Volmer tweaked his ankle, but I could see from the beginning he was on the edge of holding any time his guy outran him on the outside. Seemed like only a matter of time before the calls came -- a tweaked ankle probably put him over the edge. Doing good for a rookie; looks very promising, not dominant. I'm confident he will improve, but still consider Light the proven veteran.

No expert here... what about Volmer's play on the goal line when Hoyer took it in against Tenn?

Monster block! This potential is where us SeaBass fans get excited about his development. Still a rook in the depth chart behind Light.

One area that I think will be fun to watch is as he gets more comfortable in downfield blocking. Also ... I think when Matt Light comes back we can expect to again see both them on the field at the same time in some packages.

I think we saw alot of talent but he is very raw.Holding penality and also he has not met anyone like freeney on turf yet.I think he will be the tackle of the future.

Seabass is awesome... for a rookie. I think he will pan out to be a starting LT for us as soon as next season. Although he's been impressive overall let's see what he does against some tougher competition. I really like the way he plays- big and nasty. His physical ability is amazing, he just needs to use this time to gain experience and improve. What Vollmer has given us to this point is the ability to let Light heal completely without rushing him back onto the field before he's ready.

He's got more sacks than anyone on our roster not named Richard Seymour in the last few years.

Well said..... I just hope he is not tossed aside immediately to accommodate Light's ego for LT. Vollmer better get a shot at LT with a healthy Light. hell..... Mix and match if you really have to.

First, Seymour isn't on our roster anymore. Derrick Burgess has more sacks than him. So apparently Derrick Burgess is playing like a stud this year then by your logic.

Second, White has 13 career sacks and he has been in the league since 2002 on and off. He had a freakishly good year in 2007 with 8 sacks and has dropped off ever since. He had 5 sacks last year and 1.5 this year.

Third, over last year and this year, several players have as much sacks as Stylez White. Mike Wright between last year and this year has 6.5 sacks (smae as Stylez White). Derrick Burrgess has 6.5 sack or the same as White. Adalius Thomas has 6 sack or 0.5 less than Stylez White.

Good to know that Adalius Thomas and Derrick Burgess are having Pro Bowl caliber seasons. Thanks for enlightening us. Since White is a top DE in the league and AD and Burgess are peforming like him, they gotta be playing Pro Bowl caliber football.
