Source: Patriots perusing WR market | National Football Post

On the same day that the New England Patriots listed wide receiver Randy Moss as questionable with a back injury, the AFC East club tried out several wide receivers.

That included former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Chris Davis, according to a league source.

The Patriots also tried out former Carolina Panthers kick returner Larry Beavers as well as wideouts Anthony Armstrong, Courtney Taylor and William Franklin.

Plus, the Patriots tried out Oakland Raiders castoff defensive tackle Terdell Sands.

I don't think the WR tryouts have anything to do w/Moss or Welker. These are mostly special teams guys with future potential at WR.

Bunch of Terds.

I would hope Terrence Nunn would be activated before any of

these guys would be signed.

With Nunn safely on Practice squad for now couldn't a case be made to keep him there for now and use someone else as a stop gap should Moss and Welker be out for a game?

I'm not up on PS rules but I'd think he'd need to clear waivers again if they wanted to re-deposit Nunn on the PS later raising the possibility that someone else could claim him and put him on their PS.

I can't see how this ISN'T about the WR depth... maybe they can weather this storm well enough now but if they suffer any additional injuries they'd have to make a move and might not be pleased with Galloway as well.

All that being said, having been largely out of touch a week and now catching up, we all need to get back to the mindset that the "real" season starts come the playoffs and we just need to make it to that season and be healthy at that point.

Everyone in the Patriots organization couldn't care less if the Jets claim the title of Summer and September Champions

It would be in its best interest if the FO also brought in DJ Hackett, Ronald Curry, and even Matt Jones for workouts. Unlike the others, these WRs have actually had some success in the league.

I'd definitely like to see Matt Jones here, I think he could do some really good stuff learning from Randy Moss and he'd cost very little.
