re: Kerry Rhodes: "We want to embarass the Patriots"(Merged)

Rex Ryan is just asking for it. Think about it.. The pats have two games their offence can look at as references of Rex Ryans blitz schemes. Last weeks game against the Texans and the 07 game against the Ravens. If the pats pick up the blitz schemes, the jets DE will be toasted by one on one coverage to moss and welker.. And knowing how prepared BB gets his players, they will be ready...

Second, I dont care how good Sanchez looked last week, HES STILL A ROOKIE.. How many games has he started in college and pros. Under 15..
BB is going to mix up his coverages with him and confuse the hell out of him..When the pats get a lead and the pressure is on Sanchez, he will fold..

The Jets looked very good last week against a team that is expected to challenge the Colts and Titans in their division, even though they were playing with 2 players on suspension. They'll get one of those 2 players back for this game. They will also be playing the game at home.

The Patriots looked very poor last week against a team that was in disarray and has been picked by many to be the worst team in the AFC East. They've also, reportedly, lost their starting MLB for an extended period of time.

It should be a physical game and the Jets have legitimate reasons to be confident.

Are you just working the reverse jinx?

Point differential last year :

Buffalo -6
Houston -28

A few better redzone/short yardage plays and the Patriots would have looked dominant last week.

Enough of how great Houston is.

Not to mention that our secondary doesn't have to devote 90% of it's attention on two guys this week and instead gets to focus on making his day a living hell and containing Thomas Jones and/or Leon Washington should they be able to break past the LBs on a long run.

re: Kerry Rhodes: "We want to embarass the Patriots"(Merged)

Uh remember what happened the last time a New York team decided to throw caution to the wind and talk a bunch of sh!t right before a big game?

Our defensive captain is out for a feww weeks at least, the O Line is looking horrible right now, and we're on the road against a team that is playing its early season super bowl.

I'm concerned. This is going to be a really, really tough game. They want this BAD. I hop we want it more.

So much for me posting. You nut-shelled it nicely. Hope we're wrong, but, yes, we got all up in arms when the Giants talked crap before beating us in the Super Bowl.

Probably drinking his own kool aid.. he hands it out so much.. just like Scarface.. you deal so much of it, it's hard not to get contaminated.

That's very true, but that was the Super Bowl, whereas this is a week 2 game. The comparison has to stop there.

re: Kerry Rhodes: "We want to embarass the Patriots"(Merged)

I'm not sure how anyone can honestly say with a straight face that they expect the Texans to challenge the Colts and Titans for the AFC South.

Enough of how great Houston is.

1.) I didn't say Houston was great. I've called them soft elsewhere. They are who they are, however, and they are expected to contend for their division.

2.) Buffalo had just canned their O.C. and had the owner call the coach in for a sit down. It was implementing a new offense, has a bad quarterback, was missing its #1 running back, lost a linebacker just as the Patriots did, and was starting 3 first time players on the offensive line.

Enough of trying to act as if the Patriots didn't play poorly last week.

On which side of the ball did they play poorly? It certainly wasn't the offensive side, they moved the ball at will. And on defense, they did exactly what they wanted to do.

Heh. Maybe Kerry will take it up another few clicks later today. I know you're all very interested in this. I'll keep you apprised. Via Twitter:
kerryrhodes: i'm gonna be on ustream tonight for live q & a. not sure exactly what time, probably 7pm. will tweet details and link later!

Any chance Sundays now run 72 hours? I'd like to be able to say that the day is finally here.

Throw out all the words you like, Houston was less than mediocre last year and I can't imagine why they would be expected to contend for the division. Why ?

As for the Patriots, they played very well other than the relatively minor mistakes that will be corrected. Brady getting 50 passes in is a big deal in him getting his timing and feel back.

re: Kerry Rhodes: "We want to embarass the Patriots"(Merged)

I'm expecting a very difficult, physical game and will not be surprised if the Jets win.

re: Kerry Rhodes: "We want to embarass the Patriots"(Merged)

No, I'm just pointing out the reality of the situation. Far too many here are ignoring it or trying to pretend that last week didn't happen. It did.

It was only one game for every team in the NFL, and teams will be improving and fixing problems for weeks yet, but the Jets played a strong game and the Patriots did not. Without a fortunate fumble on special teams with 2 minutes left in the game, the Patriots would probably have lost.

re: Kerry Rhodes: "We want to embarass the Patriots"(Merged)

This nails it right on the head.

It is astounding how much history repeats itself.

Even if they win the game by giving it all their best, they will still not lead the division. Why? Simple: their next game, they play the Titans then go to New Orleans. Those are two big opponents. And by pumping this game up to be a superbowl, they are just about guaranteeing themselves a letdown.

It's not just the Patriots who are irritated by their trash-talking, other teams are irritated as well, and you can bet the Titans and Saints are saying "Whoa, we're not in the basement either."

Quite a big mistake to tunnel-vision on just one game. It's always about winning the division, not one game.

================================================

So if and when the Jets win on Sun. who will be the division leader, I'm confused?

Ty Warren, Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, et al. disagree, and quite publicly. If they can admit to the problems, perhaps their fans can too.

Perhaps you should re-watch the game. I've seen it twice. Neither viewing matched up with your claim of the Patriots playing "very well". The local media, the national media and the members of the Patriots, including the head coach who had plenty (for him) to say about his defense's struggles, have pretty much all said something quite different than you have.

Yeah, there's lots of times those guys will get on the radio and say "We played great. That was one of our best games, barely a mistake to be found anywhere on the film".

How often does Belichick say things like "failure at all levels" when describing how his defense defended the screen pass, for example?

I thought the defence did what they were suppose to do. The Pats illiminated the big play to the wide receivers and let buffulo have the underneath routes all night.. this has been a hallmark BB sceme. Bend but dont brake. They gave up 17 points.. not bad.
