RIP JJ Jones

Family and friends identify the man as J.J. Jones, also known as John Jones. He played for the New York Jets in the 1970's. His best friend, Leonard Elion, tells Q13 FOX News that Jones was one of the first three African-American quarterbacks in the NFL. He says Jones was third string when Joe Namath was the quarterback.

Tragic, yes; but I have to admit I have no recollection of this guy at all.

It's probably not getting the same headlines, because who the hell is JJ Jones??

A former Jets QB. He was cut when after shared with the New York media and the whole world the private words told him by new Head Coach Lou Holtz that, "He had never had a Black Quarterback play for him that and he never would."

Apparently, Tony Rice made a liar out of ol' Lou.

That sucks...

Death comes in threes, I feel sorry for the third former QB in the set to perish

I don't want this to turn into a political thread, but God almighty I can't believe the stupidity and arrogance of some people. I know, I know, it was a different time then, doesn't make it any easier to understand.

Not that Holtz had much of a clue about anything anyway, he tried to get the Jets players to memorize a team fight song during his brief tenure there.

This post makes no sense.
First, its a thread containing condolences to a fallen qb.
Nothing to do with McNair or Taylor.
Lastly, Taylor does not play for the Redskins, thus, they do not root for him.
But, I'm sure your thoughts are in prayer for JJ Jones.

Doh! I meant Jason Campbell I would have thought you could have made that connection, I guess you just wanted to be contrary. This thread is not JJ JONES holy ground, it is not his tribute on earth, its a hey look this guy died too thread and nothing more.
