OT: Baltimore @ Tennessee Game Discussion

God I despise Dierdorf. I'm so sick of his uninsightful and biased coverage. I thought he just hated the Pats but, his bias was so obvious in this game you'd think he was Baltimore's local announcer. Just awful.

Scary and a bit lucky too. I mean, there were a few delay of games, things that should have been called.

Tennessee's fans will probably never get over this one. DAMN.

tenn has itself to blame. playing balt who had a short week after 2 weeks rest, had 12+ penalties and turnovers and missed snaps. i hated tenn ever since the rodney injury .they are a dirty team and iam glad they shut up now.
i think flacco is a pretty cool customer .

The Ravens guy pulled a Kevin-Mawae move n Chris Johnson, just completely bent him backward and knocked him out of the game, long after the play was over. It was dirty and illegal. Funny thing is that a flag was thrown on the Titans on that play.

Of course, the fact that a key Titan was thrown out of the game by a dirty play, hey, that's irony for you.

Jeff Fischer, you deserve this loss. And screw you Mawae!

Now I'm hoping the Chargers beat the Steelers, host the Ravens, lose to the Ravens, and then the Ravens go on to lose to the NFC team (as long as it's not the Giants).

You know I hear people say this all the time and I never see it. Can you give me some examples? I mean the Monday Night "announcers" when we played the Ravens last year were bias, but I don't see bias with Dan D.

Dan D says a lot of +ve thing about the pats .the worst announced was that ravens mnf when kornhole says "cant they take that timeout back ?" on the 4th and 1 and don shula celebrating in the booth.

Good point. Wasn't it the Titan's that injured Rodney and laughed about it? I've never seen Bruschi so mad that he wanted to go after a coach. There must have been something to that. Karma is a biatch Fisher!!

By the way, I've heard recently that the Chiefs had a chuckle at Brady's expense too. I hope that team NEVER rises above 500.

LOL at the Titans...they just showed one of the players knocking things over on their way to the locker room. :D

I love CBS normally... I think they have better announce teams (take that for what it's worth, considering the competition), better game productions (graphics, theme music, etc...), but they were TERRIBLE today. No replay on the Flacco in the back of the endzone play? Sure as hell looked like he stepped out in real time... not worthy of a replay? They also never showed a replay of a big 15 yard roughing the passer penalty against Tennessee early in the game, on Baltimore's TD drive. Awful, AWFUL job by CBS tonight...

Wasn't even close to a safety. They just showed a replay on the post game show.

It's just the way he constantly praises one team while being over critical of the other. In this game he called the Titans coaching awful etc. When the Pats played Pittsburgh (and were winning) they converted a 4th down and Dieirdorf's only comment was "You gotta give the Pittsburgh defense some praise for..." What? He said in tonight's game "You have to catch the ball and make a football move" Wasn't that rule changed? I can't stand the bafoon. At least with politics you can switch to a channel with your bias. With the NFL you're stuck with the guy they give you.

Would have been nice to see that during the actual game, as opposed to 45 minutes later....

No delay of game?? Baltimore must be a team of destiny this season.

Those should be reviewable.

Earlier this week, I watched Rich Eisen interview Mike Pereira about the officiating in the wildcard games. I forget which game it was, but they showed a couple of replays of the play clock hitting zero, the ball getting snapped, and no penalty was called.

Pereira's explanation was that the official who watches the play clock sees it hit zero, then looks to see if the ball has been snapped. If it has been snapped or is being snapped when that official looks, it's okay.

Personally, I'd be happy if they just enforced a "zero = penalty" standard, but that appears too difficult to do. And even if they allow a slight delay after the clock hits zero, it appeared that the Ravens went beyond whatever latitude the officials allow on that play.

I seem to remember last year the announcers made a huge deal of Brady and the Pats using up the play clock and never getting penalized (was it Gumbel in the NY game that was way over the top?), I don't see why all the sudden now Pats fans care so much about Baltimore doing the same thing in a game vs. Tennessee?

As long as they're consistent in the way they call it they can do whatever they wish. Thinking back on it, I can't remember any delay calls that came instantaneously as the clock hit 0 so what that ref said makes perfect sense. Still, it seemed there was some time after the clock hit 0 for the ref to blow the whistle.

Well literally everytime I've seen Brady do it, he has snapped the ball before it hit 0. I honestly do not remember one instance where the ball wasn't snapped until after I saw 0 on the clock.

There needs to be a better system. We'll see what Polian has to say. :banned:
Seriously ... they fell asleep on that one. a 1/2 sec or so off whatever but that was more than 1-second no matter how much they will do to cover it up.

Same exact thing happened in that joke officiated game called Super Bowl XL. Steelers got away with that too.

The time lapse between "0" on the clock and the flag coming out was significantly different in this Ravens play, and a play in the Cardinals / Panthers game, where the flag seemed to come out the instant it flashed to "0".

Definitely some inconsistency.......
