Re: Lester diagnosed with lymphoma
I am familiar with anaplastic large cell lymphoma as my wife was diagnosed with the disease in July 2005. Hers was a very aggressive varietal as she was rated a Stage 4 at the onset.
Due to some additional complications that arose the very day she was to start chemotherapy (CHOP), her number of sessions rose from 6 to 8 treatments (1 every 3 weeks).
thankfully after 5+ months of treatments, she was pronounced in remission and remains so at this time.
although this type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is rare, it does carry a good percentage of success treatment rate, especially for young male adults.
One thing I do know is that the chemo will kick the ***** out of him one way or the other. His youth and current degree of fitness will help him withstand and recover from the beating however.
I am trusting that he will take his treatment at Dana Farber, as did my wife, and that he will have a successful result as well. I can't say enough good things about the doctors and staff we encountered there.
