That said I also recognize they would have to grossly overpay to keep Bay, and that probably is not a great option either, plus Holliday hit about .220 in the AL.

I agree with you on all points there, Bay we need but would have been to much, Holliday was so/so in the American League, but we need a bat to compete. I think that they are either going to get Beltre or Gonzalez, because we have to get another person that can hit. That being said I like this move for the Sox, and love what they have done with the Cameron/Lackey signings.
