NO PUNISHMENT FOR PACKERS IN BOUNTY CASE by Michael David Smith

Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press Gazette reports that the NFL has completed its investigation into the Packers' bounty issue and is not taking any action.

"The club has handled the matter with the players, and the incentive pool has been discontinued," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello tells Demovsky.

It does not appear that the Packers are taking any action, other than reminding the players that bounties are against NFL rules.

The investigation began because some Packers defensive backs offered to pay their teammates on the defensive line $500 apiece if they held Vikings running back Adrian Peterson to less than 100 yards rushing when the teams played on November 11.

Although there is no evidence that the Packers' plan to shut down Peterson involved attempting to hurt him, he did get hurt in the game.

Any type of bounty violates NFL rules. The rule in question states: "Clubs and players are prohibited from offering or accepting bonuses to a player for his or his team's performance against a particular team, a particular opposing player, or players or a particular group of an opposing team."





Goodell had a chance to fine someone and didn't.................wow.

So when the Packers break a rule that EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE LEAGUE BREAKS, it's fine and everyone let's it blow over.

But when the Patriots break a rule that EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE LEAGUE BREAKS, we get a $750,000 fine, lose a 1st rounder, and get labeled cheaters.

As time passes we see just what hypocrisy and double standards this rookie commish has.

He will turn out to be a bad one, more people will realize this as he does more dumb things on the job.
