I don't really think he needs to agree to a pay cut so much as the Patriots would want to convert some of the bonus money so as to spread it out over the remainder of the contract. As we've already mentioned over the course of the contract he will have made about the same money the Patriots offered Branch so I wouldn't believe his contract figures to be to high. It just needs some reworking to lower the cap hit.

Yeah but what I'm saying is that there is no way he comes back at those numbers he originally signed the deal for, it was for all intents and purposes a one year deal. What I'm saying is if he really wants to stay here he's going to have to do a new deal with less money.

I think Belioli will do what they can to keep Moss, Donte, and Welker together. After how these first 6 games have went how can you not? They all compliment each other so well and bring different things to the table.
Being a Saints fan as well, I was dissapointed that he really never lived up to his top pick status(and his hammy injuries were frustrating).
However-I'm glad he's playing gangbusters in NE. I've always liked him nonetheless(and made a good compliment with Joe Horn), so am glad he's gotten his act together.
Yea, that's what I was trying to explain. Really, I don't understand why anyone would find the $33M to large of a total contract for Stallworth.
I think it's a question of overall cap space, though...I see us wanting to pick up a high-profile LB next season (those guys are OLD, except for AD), and if Moss decides he wants to up his paycheck, BB may consider one of the two "expendable." God, I'd hate to see that happen...

Yea, Warren is signed through 2013 (just like BB) and Wilfork isn't a free agent until 2010. Seymour's a free agent that same year by the way.
Honestly if you look at Stallworth's total contract it's around what they offered to Deion Branch which would make sense because Stallworth actually has better career numbers than Branch. I could see them keeping Stallworth around actually.
Wouldn't that be cool. He is a very nice fit with Moss. Those guys should stat together on this team with brady. Just me opinion.

From espn. Assuming its accurate, it means that the 8M bonus will apply to next year only (since it'll be another one year contract, with an option in 2009). Unless they pick up all 5 remaining years, then they can change the cap to spread the bonuses around. Thats my, possibly incorrect, understanding. Or can bonuses be averaged into cap figures for option years?
