Default ESPN (<---yes , I know) Comments on lack of big game experience

I normally just turn the other cheek and laugh at what ESPN says, but this time I had to laugh and share with those that didn't see it. On their show "Around the Horn", one of the panelists, Bill Plashcke was the lone man picking the Cowboys. Now thats fine, he is entitled to an opinion. However, his sticking point was the fact that this Pats team has no big/close game experience and they won't now how to react in that environment on the road. He feels that these large wins are going to serve as a disadvantage essentially.

It's beyond laughable. Yeah, these guys have never sniffed a big/close game. Just that most of the defense has played in 3 Super Bowls that were each decided by three points. Oh yeah, and that Brady guy with his two SB MVP's and numerous comeback wins. I guess BB and the coaching staff might have some experience too, have to check on that. In closing, we knew this, but ESPN has degenerated into a sad state in a lot of areas.

i think Plashcke is the one they pay to come on and say off the wall stupid crap. Obviously he is way off, because i am pretty sure that the Pats core has faced a couple of big games on the road before.

Welp, Plashcke picked the Bears over Packers last week and he was right.

The media has patriots fever and has dubbed you 16-0.

You can't fault him for looking through the bias. Only 4 people I can find picked the Cowboys. Emmitt Smith, Michael Wilbon, Dan Le Batard, and Jamie Dukes. Everyone else is smitten.

Your in the weakest division in football (combined 7-13) and have been playing weak teams (who experienced severe injuries early in the game while playing you Jamal Lewis, JP Losman, 2 Bengals Starting LBs). Can't blame him for questioning you...I expect him to get 10 bonus points on Monday's episode...

You know what's fun that you should try? READING THE POST YOU'RE RESPONDING TO. He's not complaining about Plaschke picking the Cowboys. He's talking about him using the absurd idea that the Pats lack experience in big/close games.

Plaschke statement rang such truth that I didn't feel it needed justification.

Is it not true? I'm not a huge patriots fan as yourself, but how often has your team rallied from behind this year? When was the last time the patriots faced adversity? Was it the AFC Championship game where the colts rallied from a 21-6 deficit and ended up 32 points up in the 2nd half? I'm sorry if I don't recall the patriots glory days from 2 years ago.

It just seems sad but yet the perfect fuel for the Pats to prove everyone wrong that they are here to dominate and keep dominating. Other teams fans are just jealous and with itchy trigger fingers to find way to bring us down. Say whatever, but the bottom line is Pats have the most experience that any team in the NFL on closing a game, adapting to the game mood and making high ranked teams look bad. Romo and the rest of the Cowkids are marked for a beating of the year.

That comment is almost as stupid as the one I've heard lately that "Brady is not used to getting hit/pressured"! Have they not watched him in the past 6yrs?

so this game would been easier for the pats if dallas had blown out buffalo because they wouldnt have the exp of coming from behind ???
and you dont have to 2 yrs . last yrs chargers game was a good enough rally win.
i agree there have been no close games this yr but this team has had many big games in its tenure here and most of the core guys have been through it and know to handle it unlike the cowboys who take time off to laminate messages to reporters thinking of the other 81 and all that stuff .Shows which team has the experience handling a situation and so called big week.

Tony Reali has a tendency to mute people before giving them a chance to explain themselves, but Plaschke's point was logically fallacious. He was basically arguing that becaue the Pats hadn't stunk enough to make a walk over game close, that that somehow puts them at a disadvantage. The whole, this team is a different team than last team mantra fails here, because, for the majority of players, it's the same team. And they've had more primetime, big game wins than any other team out there. Plus, Around the Horn is a show that places emphasis on playing devil's advocate and assuming an asinine position for the sake of it, then shouting about it as if you really believe it. Actually that sums up punditry in general.

I think they take turns playing the silly one. Watch next time. Lately Woody Paige has been visibly frustrated with that role so they changed it to Plaschke. But sometimes it's Cowlishaw or Mariotti (who actually is a fool). It's all a totally disingenuous farse.
